Electric Window Switch replacement

Featured Replies

Need to replace the drivers side electric window switch on a 02 octavia. Any threads or directions would be greatly appreciated as my window is stuck down in the rain. Pretty sure it is the switch as its been temperamental for the last few days.

thanks

Don't the switches just flick out?

then swap the one from the other door to close the window

On mine, the drivers side has switches for all 4 windows, enable/disbale other others to control windows but the central locking buttons.....

The whole unit just "pops" out.

if you lock the car with the key and keep it turned in th elock it should shut all the windows for you (keep the key turned till the last window has closed)

The switch gear and door handle/arm rest are all integrated, does the whole unit pop out, seems pretty secure, cannot pop it out with out breaking it I think. It looks like its screwed in from the other side of the panel, could be wrong though, anybody else ever remove this part.

I have removed mine...

around the back of the gran handle is a rubber grippy bit that can be pulled out, after that I seem to recall that you pull whole the assembly upwards (with the aid of a screw driver under it....) However it might be worth checking a haynes manual before hand. Mine is in the car, I'll try and remember to have a look when I get to work tomorrow.

Thanks MB

From haynes:

- disconnect battery

- with door open, remove the insrt rubber grippy bit (my words), this moves towards the door card (using a flat baed screw driver)

- the grip recess with the switches can then be unclipped upwards and removed..

not much too it, but much easier with pictures - I could PDF the page if necessary......
