How do you tell?

Featured Replies

I drove another Fabia Vrs at work on Friday, and to me, mine seems so much quicker, and more torquey.

I bought my car from work, and i had a load of paperwork with it, but no mention of a remap.

Is there anyway of telling if its been remapped?

Cheers

You could time a 0-60 run or find a local friendly Briskodian with VAG-COM and get them to have a look at some of the modules. One other thing worth checking is that it doesn't have a tuning box in the engine bay.....

Rolling road.

Have a look if it has a seat 160 air intake on it and a panel filter, most re-mappers change these as part of a re-mapp deal.

My bro did a 0-60 run standard and did it in 7.5 secs

Race me, if you can keep up your car is mapped :D

just log boost levels on vagcom, that will give you a better idea

my VRS feels a lot slower than my fathers standard VRS

and has been proven on the rollers recently , some standard ones have over 150 bhp , whereas mine only had 132 bhp when standard

My brother had a Fabia PD100 at his garage for a service yesterday. Giving it the obligatory test drive, he was surprised at how much slower it felt to mine (pre Dragon). It seems that these engines can vary significantly in output.

Defo no box, looked for that straight away.

It has a PD160 now as i put it on, but it didnt have....

Ill have to ask the technicians to see if the Skoda machine will tell or not.

Cheers people!

Hi,

my car when it was standard did not rev much above 4k. If its remapped it should rev to 4.5k with ease. Its not an exact science but should give an indication?

The big difference i noticed after a remap, is that it keeps pulling and pulling from 2500rpm right through to 4250+rpm before it tails off. In standard form, you got a real kick up the ar*se at 2500, then having to change up at about 3600 before starting to tail off slightly.

Basically you can wind it up and drive it more like a petrol engine.

Hmm ill have to have a play with the VW computer at work on monday then...

Cheers

I am surprised that nobody mentioned that there are two different engines fitted on vRSs - the ASZ and the BLT. AFAIK, BLTs have some more bhp compared to the old ASZs. Am I right?

mine had a dragon box on , and still had less power than yours

the 132bhp figure i quoted was when i first went on the rollers at Awesome , it had less when i went on the second time (127) the third time with the Dragon box , 137bhp at wheels (clutch figures were 1st 145bhp, 2nd 142bhp, 3rd 149bhp)

my car has always seemed down on power though :(

I suppose the 'stutter' is the cross we have to bear for having some extra BHP.

Unless you have a 9mm gasket of course.

My stutter was removed via VAG COM, thanks to my local dealer. I have expalined in the stutter thread. It was all very easyand now I don't have any cross to bear!
