Newbie requiring some bits.

Featured Replies

I purchases a K Plate Favorite Forman about 6 months ago. The aim was just to use it as a cheap run around whilst I started a new job and could afford something more expensive. Well the car grew on me, especially the fact it cost me pennies to run and own and th fact she has never let me down.

I did buy a replacement, will keep the favorit anyway as a spare car or to collect bits and bobs being a spacious estate.

I looking to smarten her up a tad, she is low milage and runs great, but it was used on a farm by an old couple who clearly never ever washed the car. The Tailgate around the window is more rust than metal and the drivers door has tape over a hole.

Anybody have these bits or know where to get them?

Here are some pics of her

Ive done a few jobs to her since I have owned her and have a few more to go. I needed to change the middle box as it was blowing, but could not seperate it from the back box, so bought both. I have the old creaking suspension but i think i have identified the culprit so have bought replacements. Gave a mini service and drivin her over 2000 miles in 4 months.

Well at least it wasn't stuck to the catalytic converter :)

The interior looks great anyway, bits normally turns white with UV light. The alloys look great and in very clean condition too!

As for the tailgate rusted through, I wouldn't worry about it unless the hole is so bad as to make it structurally unsound. You'd probably only have any luck with scrap yards or if someone happens to have a spare or is about to scrap a favorit.

You might want to try rust converter and to run sealant around the window seal? If not for a long term as a temporary measure till you find a replacement.

The prices these cars can be, you might have more luck looking for another one, checking the bits you want are in good condition, buying it, getting it trailored home, taking all bits and spares possible off it then scrapping it.

Welcome, hope your car and your repair project continue to go well. Brilliant site, lots of knowledgeable and helpful members on here. :)

Need any advice, let me know.

But the skoda is staying as the wife is selling this and using it instead, its a Citroen Xantia 2.0i Turbo Activa (wife hates it fuel consumption)

And finally my pride and joy, though its poorley as i blew up the engine :( New engine in but finishing some other bits and bobs over the winter. Its a UK Spec Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo Manual

Seems i spend most of my free time fixing one of the above. The skoda is the only one currenly on the road :), but the Vauxhall is close behind.
