Door Warning Dash Light

Featured Replies

Hi guys...

I have a Skoda Fabia Hatch 1.4 16v, and I'm pretty sure it has the lights on the dash indicating whether the doors are open our not, they're just not active.

What I wanna know is which code must be changed with VAG to activate it...

One other thing: I think the driver's door microswitch might be damaged, as the door only activates lights and all that once it's almost shut (at least it's not completely dead!! :D). As soon as I open it a little more, it turns everything off, as if it was closed. Is there any way to correct this without changing the microswitch?

Thanks in advance!

No one?

Sorry I've not seen your post before - must have missed it.

Anyway - I would think if the car was fitted with the circuit it would be enabled. Just because you can see the symbol on the dash doesn't mean it's operational.

Difficult so say on the other question but the microswitch would be the first place to try I think.

Thanks for your answer! :)

About the symbol, one would think that if the car can detect the doors being open (by turning on the lights and so), could also light up the symbol on the dash? Right? or wrong? lol

Secondly, the microswitch thingy, as I said, it works when the door is almost closed (or barely open, whichever you prefer! lol). Searching the forum, I found someone (can't remember who) who had the same problem... but couldn't find the answer to it! :(

Many of the dashpods are a bit generic and therefore not all of the symbols will work on all models.

An example - pre 2006MY Octavia II have a Cruise Control symbol on the dash but it doesn't illuminate because it wasn't ever programmed into the firmware. If you put a newer dashpod in one of these cars then most of the time the symbol will illuminate but in both cases the Cruise Control will work perfectly.

What I'm saying is that because your interior lights work it doesn't follow that the symbol will illuminate.

Ok, got it!

Thanks!

Stu already stated the obvious, but we could still look into it a little more detailed. What's your instrument cluster part number and current coding?

where is the door switch? i was looking for it the other day out of curiosity!!

It's a microswitch built into the catch on the door.

Kookie_Monster, you will only get a door open warning light on the Fabia Elegance

I don't have that info right now. I'll give it a look and report back when I can! :)

@fordfan: mine is the comfort version. Maybe that's why... :P

Here's the info from a Fabia 2001 1.4 Auto Comfort, does this help?

Yep, does help.

Your cluster is one of the early ones which don't support this feature.

FWIW, the 6Y0-920-???-??? clusters do support it.
