Who uses Millers in their 2.0 TDi?

Featured Replies

Contemplating using Millers Sport 4 in our 06 Octavia 2.0 TDi - just wondered if many others do, and if so, where do they buy it from/ how much?

Lots of people on the BMWLand forum seem to use Millers and reckon its on a par with buying Shell VPower/ BP Ultimate diesel but a fair bit cheaper. Just wondering if the PD engines also respond well to it.

Thanks.

I used it when I first got my Leon 2.0 TDI.

Added a splash of it on every fill up for about 2 months.

To be honest, I couldn't tell any difference.

Not TDi, but yes in my 2.0FSI. My dealer uses it, I'd never heard of it till then. Semi synthetic [for low mileage use - changed once a year]. Seems to be fine, and cost £18 for an "engine full".

Bit of confusion here I think. The stuff above in the original post is an additive / cetane booster for diesel engines only; its not a lubrication oil as such and I don't think adding it by the "enginefull" is recommended.

You need to read your handbook - there are some warnings in there, but I know a lot of the Fabia drivers have used it without issue (the Sport 4 is supposedly compatible with the PD injectors).

I've used it in the Mondeo and do notice a difference when it's not in the tank....

I'd never put fuel additives in a car where it is not recommended while said car in inside of warrenty.

I do however recommend it for the focus engines and older engines and a friend says it is good in their TDI.

Sorry - I thought he was talking about using Miller's oil , as a brand, generally !!!

I am using Millers DieselSport 4 in my vRS TDI that I fuel with Shell V-Power Diesel.

I definitely feel, although not tested, that I get better response and around 2 mpg higher using DieselSport 4 (even with V-Power

Been using this stuff for some time now - I think my engine runs much smoother with it and seems more responsive.

Do a search on Millers Sport 4 as there are already several threads which cover this and irregular Group Buys.

There is a post for Millers Oils in the Discount section of 'Freedom'; except that this section (Discounts) has disappeared on me.

I used it recently for about 2months(many fills),the car felt smoother and more responsive on the throttle. You should get it in Halfords(17euros per 500ml) and you can buy it online from Millers website!!

:confused:I used the Miller Sport 4 additive as it has good recommendation from others, and i use to use their oils. We have the A5 dsg 140 bhp 55 plate and i decieded to give it a go, it cost about £10 for the bottle. Our first journey was to Scotland from East Sussex, setting the cruise control at 70mph as much as possible we done 50mpg to Cumbernauld which i thought amazing as we had a full load on.Happened to talk with a guy about using the Sport and he said look at the handbook about additives , it clearly states NO additives ,so as we still have a year to run on the warranty i stopped using it .I don't know whether it was my imagination but it really seemed to make a differance for the better.

I use millers and fill up with bp ultimate(fabia vrs)

Try adding millers to normal derv and you will probably find you won't notice the difference between that and ultimate.

You will find that you get worse performance, IMHO, from millers plus V-Power/Ultimate over using it with normal derv or shell extra.

A good move if you haven't got Ultimate/V-Power available and Regular + DieselSport 4 is cheaper per litre than Ultimate/V-Power.

IMHO I disagree that you get worse performance (Ultimate + DieselSprot 4) but I have to admit that the gains are not as obviously noticeable as they are with Regular + DieselSport 4

i've just started using it in my 06 octy 105PD with plain jane texaco diesel and god damn it's making a lovely difference! there is definately more response from the engine, and i think there's more power across the rev range - also the engine is definately quieter on tickover!

i haven't even used a full strength dose either - gets my vote tho!

A friend of a friend uses it in his 2.0TDI and there is a noticeable drop in soot levels. There are noticeable MPG gains and the engine feels much more responsive too.

That's what he tells me anyway, and it trust him

Who knows - one day I might start using it......

EDIT

...........And i've just realised this thread had been mostly dormant for months

What are the possible problems with the engine?

The biggest issue is with warranty but then they have to prove you have been using it.

It boosts the Cetane level of the diesel so it changes it's burn characteristic slightly but I can't see the difference between using Millers and V-Power/BP Utimate.

Might try it, but i fear the 'placeao effect'.

Chris

May give this a try Bahnstormer, especially as it seems to have made a difference on your RR session.

Good idea; I reckon V-Power + Millers was worth 6 - 8bhp on the RR.

By the way; What fuel were you running that (RR) day?

Tesco :o

(sorry, unless I am away from home etc and can't find one I always collect my Tesco loyalty points, alternatively I have a Morrisons card aswell!)

I still have a tractor view of diesels: that they can run on any old crap!

Shell V-Power club gives you points! (double compared to regular shell).

Still I'd think that Millers with your regular Tesco Diesel will give you a degree of improvement.
