How much for a 30k service???

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Just about to start phoning around for some quotes on a 30k service.

Didnt opt for a brake fluid change on my 20k service - do you recommend that this is done at this stage?

Any prices or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Danny

Brake fluids every 20K or 2 years. The 30K service is simple oil change and inspection. I pay around £190.

i phoned up Skoda Southampton this morning asking same question, i was told

for very basic Oil service - £98

for above + lots of checks - £189

if its just a list of checks - which i've no doubt will result in a list of things 'we recommend you get done' then i'll probably opt for the cheap option and get some other work done.

If that was Freeborn, I'm impressed as they refused to acknowledge a "lube" service when I had my Fabia. Basically you need to have an annual inspection every year. If you have more than one service a year, you only need one annual inspection so you can opt to just have an oil change (ie lube) service for one of them.

If the brake fluid wasn't done at 20k, I'd get that done too.

Thanks for the help fellas!

I just left everything to the local dealer until 60K. Very expensive and brakes never done. When I did it myself, the colour of the fluid coming out was amazing - black- and it was easy to see the difference as new fluid starts to emerge. No way of comparing, but I do feel that the brakes were better after the change. Certainly worth getting done.

couldnt you kill yourself if you didnt change your brake fuild somthing on the lines of water gets in to the brake fuild when its old.

Plz correct me if iam wrong.

I changed my brake fuild 2nd service 19K. I always think money no object where brakes are involed as you are BAlls if they fail.

Yeah thats right , it absorbs moisture as time goes by , I dont know how long you'd have to leave it before it became totally useless though.

Hi

Just had a 30,000 mile service at Robinsons of Norwich no brake fluid change as that was done at 20,000 but they charged me £167.00 they also collected the car from my work place and delivered it back at no extra charge so top blokes as far as i am concerned.

That's one of the "problems" with changing your brake fluid frequently - you just don't get a clear idea when you've flushed the old fluid out, but it does pay to be sensible and change it every two years, there again that is probably why VAG tend to advise the quantity of fluid that needs to be drawn from individual bleed valves.
