Right, Getting myself a traders policy, so I can have several cars on one policy (as permenant vehicles).

I am going to be trading cars part time and intend to use the profits to spec up my perm cars...

Initially, I'm thinking about spending a max of £1000 on a Felicia and modifications.

so the Challenge is to give me a list of.

1. What Car (engine/spec/model) and how much you would pay.

2. A list of modifications you would make (in order of priority) and prices.

Cheers dude- but I'd ideally have the car on the road whilst making the upgrades- and fitting all new shiney parts:D

Seeing as how the options are overwhelming, I'll give you an idea what I was thinking...

1. S plate or later 1.3 MPI saloon with T&T (£300) leaves £700 for

2.

22mm ARB+ brackets (£70)

4x Gaz shocks (possible 12" open 8.5" closed with a 3.5" stroke) £250

4x 2.25" ID springs (2x 240 9" free length 2x 220 9" free length) just a guess at the moment- calcs will need to be done! £80

2x Adjustible spring seat 2"ID (fitting 2.25" Springs) £40

2x Coilover conversion kits for Rear (2"ID fitting 2.25" Springs) £70

leaves £190 for either some engine upgrades (and a stock brake rebuild) or some barstewardised big brake conversion.

What about just a set of HP coilovers? I must admit only suspension I have known is that what came with my car though so know little about it all. My guess is the advantage of your setup is more freedom to put it to the height you want?

I believe the HP kit only has 3 height settings, but it is a bit cheaper:cool:

good suggestion, Ideally infinite adjustibility would be nice (e.g can get a set of uberstiff springs for track use-not taking long to change over)

the HP's are dam good. but, there designed to make the car handle, not look good, so only the three positions.

however, if i were to do it all over again. i would save up a lil more and get the HP race set, now they are fully adjustable.

Cost on the HP race set?

HP SPORTING

pass. have a look in the race section.

It looks like Butts of Bawtry sell HP suspension, and their catalogues on their site are a bit out of date so maybe a call to them will find out how much they are. The "sporting" are about £350.

I guess those would be an ideal upgrade for me if I can get the £££ together. One of my struts has it's rubber packing coming out and that and another is worn, plus the coil springs are probaby the originals and looking a little rusty in places. Probably by the time I've saved up I'd need a new shock or two anyway.

yes you can get the sporting ones from butts, and there £350

but to get the race ones, you have to email the HP factory.

Had that out Woodie so far (no scrapyards in sight though...)

But I'd like a little sleeper that can outhandle most of the new hothatches, yet still be practical.

a 5 dr felly will fit the bill:thumbup:

err, ask teflontom about polybushes.

the sleeper idea is a good one. your not gunna be winning drag races, but you could show them a thing or two in the twisty bits.

dont forget the "22mm anti roll bar" trick.

cheers Pinkskud.

I do mention the ARB in the 3rd post I make:thumbup:

cooleo

You may find if you deal direct with HP you can save yourself a lot of money, i think Butts add around a £100 mark up on the HP kit :(

HP used to put prises on there site, and when they did, the sporting ones were about £340ish.

Suppose we have to learn Czech first? :)

Ahh, I can see me possibly contacting HP in the new year- I'll report back what prices I get.

go for it mate.

I love street sleepers. I was mad enough to think about sticking a 3.5 V8 in the back of a Honda Acty van! It'd need solid tyres tho

That is what I like about the Felly, they're (just) quick enough & handle well enough stock to play big games with. Pretty solid too.
