IIRC you can stop this. You can set a function so that programs automatically end without the pop up option.

Unfortunately, I am at work and can't remember the exact function but try tweakui (google it) and see if it's in there.

There are quite a few Windows "tweaking" programs, most of which will enable a function to shut down prgrams that stop responding immediately.

I have no idea where to find this function in Control Panel, though I'm sure it must be there somewhere. If it isn't, then it's a Registry tweak and beyond my capability other than a copy/paste fix from another source.

I've just downloaded & installed Tweakui & cannot find this function there.

It's a Reg tweak: TLab404 - Automatically end non-responding program at Shutdown though, like has been mentioned, some tweak programs like System Mechanic, Advanced System Optimiser (A freebie from Ashampoo) will do this with the tick of a box :)

HTH :)

Found it:-

Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and look for AutoEndTasks. Default value is 0. Change it to 1.

Close Regedit & Reboot.
