Daughters Saxo

Featured Replies

Hi, I need help with daughters saxo again:confused:

When I turn her lights on half, all of them work fine.

When I turn her lights on full, rear passenger side goes out?

If I turn lights on and off a few times, all the lights work including the rear passenger side, but after 3 seconds it goes out again.

Does anyone have any ideas, cos this is really annoying.

i'd guess the switch is faulty, seems the most plausable reason for the lights to work then not after you've messed with the switch

You dont think it could be a bad earth?

a bad earth on the lamp unit will be apparent whatever position the switch is in , but you say all is ok when the switch is just on sidelamps

Thanks alot, looks like I need to go on flebay for a new stalk 4 her.

Switch is most likely, but a bad earth could be the problem- it could fail as it warms up.

it's French lol :)

Do you get anything funny going on when you have brake lights, side lights and indicator all at the same time? I followed a Pug the other day who's brake lights went out on one side and the side indicating was flashing, which I put down to bad earth, so worth while checking with ALL possible lights on.

I've seen plenty of funny goings on with the after market lexus style etc lights.

A bad earth is a distinct possibility as is the switch and the wiring.

I see this all the time on French cars...

Used to be Fords 10 years ago. eScrotes were famous for it. :)

I was behind a Volvo on the A55 north last night which had similar problems; a single fog light at the back until the brakes went on, then the fog light went out; when an indicator went on the fog-light went out and the rear light worked properly. I zoomed past at the first opportunity.

I've had this problem on old Fords when the bodywork started to rot around earth points, usually after 2 or 3 days!

Earth, wiring short, switch, damp due to lens mods have all been mentioned; auto electrician job I'd suggest. Is there any chance the relevant fuses have been inappropriately "beefed up" to avoid them blowing? I've seen this as well and the wiring insulation tends to heat up, decay and cause intermittent shorts and eventually maybe even fires.

yep - had to deal with a fair few of them too!

Yeah ditto with the french stuff, was made by drunk frogs, **** poor electrics on them.

****roens and Peugoets are the worst

Yeah, because I had a citroen and a pug with 250k and 150k miles on them and neither of them suffered from this. They were also both more reliable and had less problems than any of the skodas my family has owned.

I know while people are making blanket comments about french cars, lets talk about fabia drivers:rolleyes::rolleyes:

incorrect bulbs can cause problems , putting a single element side lamp bulb in where a stop/tail bulb should be will have various lamps going on and off
