Featured Replies

Hey people, i tested the top speed of my 115bhp octavia the other day on the motorway, i got 130mph out of it, it got me thinking, can you fit the VW 6spd gearbox in the octavia, i would have thourght you could but thourght id check to see if anyone has done it, i know where i may be able to source a GT TDI 6spd box you see :rolleyes:

Thanks

Not a very bright thing to do is it?

First you post a photo of your car & reg No. include your name & DOB on the web, then you admit you have just gone 60mph over the speed limit!

The first word you will use as you step out of court???

TAXI !

Classic :thumbup:

it is possible mate you will need box & shaft(6speed 1 is alot smaller than 5 speed1).

My mate fitted a petrol 6 speed g/box to his Audi A3 150bhp petrol 98 model. we changed everything when we did my mates used the job lot from a seat leon cupra R complete bed, bones hubs & quick s/rack.

am not sure if you will see huge difference as you only have 115 engine.

but am sure a 130pd or a 150pd 6speed box along with shaft will fit mate.

Tt proberbly wont make much difference to your top speed. I dont think you would have got near the rev limiter in 5th when you were doing 130. No amount of extra cogs is going to help get past 130.

The biggiest problem you have is wind resistance, you need more power to overcome that, a good remap will give you a few more MPH.

Not the brightest thing to declare really, especially when done on the public highway....

The TDi 6 speed box would prob work okay as the 02J and 02M are interchangable, however 6th gear might not be that much longer than your current 5th.

Its all well and good having long ratios, but you need the umph to move it all!!

I know the 02M works great on my car, especially when I can whip the revs round to nearly 8k!!

1st = 55 mph

2nd = 85 mph

3rd = 125 mph

4th = 155 mph

5th = 175 mph

6th = ???

I ment 130KPH :o, i am plannig to get the car chipped to around 150BHP, and hopefully a full miltek stainless sytem, this 6sp box is out of a X-reg GT TDI mk4 golf.

steve your top speeds mean nothing in conjunction with his car is it only revs to about 60% of yours.

as above though your not really not going to gain much in the way of top speed as your not increasing power.

You will need the driveshafts as well as the gearbox too. :)

gearbox

flywheel

clutch

starter

selectors

clutch pipe

drive shafts

thats about all of it but its a good idea to get you going, not a super cheap conversion.

hmm, yea, might go ahead and get the car chipped/remapped first, then see whether it is still worth considering the box project.

I ment 130KPH :o,

In that case, get the engine rebuilt and re-mapped as planned as something is seriously wrong if it only does 130KPH (80MPH) ! ;)

:popcorn:
