Fabia vRS pedal covers

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have an annoying problem with my vRS at the moment. Every few hours or so the cover on the accelerator pedal falls off. This merely annoys me most of the time, but I guess it has the potential to be a real problem if it goes under the brake pedal. Am I just not refitting it properly, or is it supposed to be glued on?

For those not sure what I mean, take a look at this.

Many thanks,

James

I never knew it was a cover, I'm going to have a wee look later at that.

It's possible you're not fitting it properly, but they can sometimes be a bit of a pain to seat correctly. There was a trend a few years back to fit them to older veedubs (the pedal covers are from the old TT I think), and in my G40 I had to apply some silicone on the back of the covers to stop them coming loose every now and then.

So I'd say just whack some silicone on the back of the cover, fit it ensuring the rubber surround is clipped over the back of the pedal. Once the silicone has gone off they won't go anywhere.

TigerSeal or Sikaflex, stick anything to anything.

It's a known problem. (to me anyway ;))

The car I took out for a test drive was missing its accelerator pedal cover, while I was in the dealers a man came in asking for a replacement as his wouldn't stay on and when I bought my car it didn't have an accelerator pedal cover. (dealer got me a new one as a condition of sale)

Check your rubber grip that fits around the outside of the pedal isn't loose, if it is you're going to have to bond it somehow (see above). If it's not loose to fit it securely you start at the bottom and work your way up, i.e wrap the bottom of the rubber grip around the pedal, then the righthand side, followed by the left and then finish off with the small bit at the top.

Hope that's of some help.

As mentioned above quite a few VW owners fit these covers to their cars..... I fitted them to my Polo GTi and used Araldite to stick the throttle pedal cover on as it was the only one that wouldn't fit correctly.

Touch wood i've not had a problem with the pedals in our vRS's so far.....

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Dave.

i used very thin double sided tape to resecure the pedal trim , not a problem any more

Thanks for the input everyone.

I'll try to refit it a couple of times, but if not I'll just stick the sucker down with silicone.
