"Rear seats down" warning light

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My warning light on the dash for when you don't have your rear seats put back properly doesn't work..... Now as far as i know it's never worked from new and i didn't know it existed till about 6 months or so ago. I'm not overly fussed about it as to be honest i don't really have the rear seats down too often but i just wondered if anybody had had the same problem with theirs and if they managed to sort it themselves?

If not i'll try and remember to mention it to the dealer when the car gets it's next service next year. I just have bad vibes about it being a bulb gone in the dash and them having to take it to bits to fix and ending up causing more probs than in the first place.

Cheers

Dave.

Jings another warning light I never knew about.

There's a warning light for this? My back seats haven't been in my car for a couple of months. Glad there's no light to tell me this, as I'd have had to bodge the sensor somehow....

The light only comes on for about 5 seconds when you turn on the ignition..... It's positioned between the headlight on & mainbeam on lights, Or there abouts, in between the rev counter and speedo.

I didn't think mine had it when somebody mentioned it on here a while back till i saw the outline of the light when the sun was shinging on the dash one day.

Are you sure it's activated Dave? Could just be a place for the warning icon within the dashpod, but actually no connection?

Could be another facelift tweak of course, as I've never had the warning.

I'm going to give this a try tonight.

If My seats are down or not locked into place I have a warning light.

Its in the center at the top and looks like a red squiggle!

Scared the **** out of me one morning n the way to work as it was flashing on and off

When i got to work i noticed that the rear seats werent locked into place

Got to be a facelift thing. I've definitely got no sensor for this, and as my car is running the wiring from a 2004 vRS, there's definitely no wiring for one, and there's no squiggle on my dash. :D (thank god....) [looks back at his back seats sat up against the wall in his bedroom :D]

Well its not quite a squiggle but its very close to one!

Im taking it mine is a facelift model then its a 54 2004 model?

I need to sort mine, think there is a bad connection and its flashes up all the time

Another new thing discovered for me then! Glad I don't have it though :)

Tried it the night and lights up on the dashboard, this car is far too clever for it's own good even still getting used to the pings of lower temperture in this winter

Its only on the drivers side back seat, and the sensor is on the latch.

Tis a handy feature, and the warning light is the outline of a seat.

You have one because the 3 point centre seat belt is self contained within the seat, if the seat isn't latched securely the belt would be useless.

I had a look around both cars tonight and the only thing i could see different in the dark was that when the rear seat is put back gently in the car that has the working warning light it sits proud and doesn't click into place until you give it a push. On the other car the seat just clicks straight back in.... a lot looser so to speak. I'll haver another look tomorrow in the daylight to see if anything is stuck in etc..... which maybe isn't springing out when the seat is released forward...... so not activating the warning light..... If that makes any sense???

Cheers

Dave.

I wonder if it's something that can be rectified on VAG-COM?

Very valid point from Fordfan though, re the 3rd seatbelt....
