bought one

Featured Replies

alryt people,

ive finally bought an octavia. after looking around i managed to find an '02' octavia vRS in yellow with 36000 miles on the clock. it has full skoda service history and has had 2 owners from new.

the car in general is in mint condition, as you would imagine with having such low miles. the car has been slightly modified with a remap, induction kit, dump valve and magnex exhaust and it has been rolling-roaded at 205bhp.

i was very impressed on the test drive, there were no knocks, squeaks or bangs when driven over bumpy ground and the engine felt like it pulled really well. the gearbox was also very tight, and clutch very smooth with no juddering which would point to no miss use.

i left a deposit and look forward to picking it up in the next 2 weeks. im so excited!!! :D

im planning on coilovers but still have no idea which ones to get. im not lookin to spend mega bucks on kw's but want something similar. i have been speaking to jabbasport who recommend weitec for the money (475 quid) but seeing as no one has tried the spax adjustables i am tempted to buy them. there only 25 quid more and are fully adjustable.

i no im probably going to get slated for saying this but i recently fitted a set of them to my brothers corsa c sri and the difference was amazing. as he has no mechanical knowledge i went out and set the height/damping and i was well impressed with the outcome. when on the hardest setting the car didnt move, but when set to soft it took bumps/general bad roads without making the car jump around. the complete oposite to my fk coilovers.

im also looking into the anti-roll bars and brake set-ups available as i am tempted to attend some track days during next year. any spec list of peoples cars e.g engine work, suspension set-up, brake set-up (only mk1 octy vrs ones please :)) would be greatly apreciated as im interested in seeing peoples gains and how much they have spent to get them to that spec.

thank you all for your help in lookin for this car. it may not seem like you have done anythink but i have spent hours goin through these posts finding out what to check for and thanks to that i think ive found a minter (touch wood lol)

Congrats :)

How much did you pay if you dont mind my asking? I just picked up a 39k 52 plate one in red last sunday for £5k :)

i love the fact it drives so well for a 5yr old car. cantwait to pick it up

:) nice one mate, pleased for you :)

Sounds like a good buy. Enjoy :drivesaf:

What tyres is he popping on for you? :)

Steve

Congrats, you will certainly stand out with the yellow colour.

205 bhp is a nice realistic figure from a remap too.

I reckon your gonna have sleepless nights until you pick her up :D

Nice one :)

They are so nice to drive :)

he put crap on. gonna change them tho. any suggestions? going to replace all 4.

what size/manufacturer is best?

welcome aboard I am sure that you will be very pleased. still love getting in my vrs nearly 3 years later

On the question of tyres this can be very subjective as to what you want to pay to what you get. I have dunlops on at the moment which I have found to be fine where as some people hate them. others love toyo's but they do not last long

it all depends on what you want.

try the ones you have and see how they go giving you time to look at what is best and what you want to spend

Enjoy................

Wouldnt lower it in any way cause mine bottoms out on everything in standard form,

even though the car looks to ride high.
