Oh, yeah, it does! :P

Looking forward to this arriving as Blu Ray through my existing amp sounds really weedy and quiet and doesn't fill the room with sound like DVD's do. I don't think bluRay do Dolby Digital very well, so hopefully Dolby True HD should sound better on the new amp.

Need to fork out for some more HDMI leads though...

Looks an impressive spec and the Onkyo stuff is always beautifully put together. Black, silver or gold? :D And where did you buy from?

Also, what BR player are you going to run with it?

I've been checking prices on these for quite a while after seeing a good review in What Hi Fi. T'internet reviews seem to give glowing reports as well. Saw a new one on Ebay of all places for £30 under list with free delivery. feedback seemed good so bought it. I've gone for a nice black one (the new silver:rolleyes:) to match TV and PS3, the bluray player of choice for skinflints!

I can't imagine anyone wanting a gold one, although each to their own I suppose.

Clearly nowhere near a skinflint, having spent that amount on an AV amp! :D

And 'sound' decision on the colour Sir ;)

Hadaway Steve! this one's second from bottom of the new range of Onkyos. Audiophiles are already looking down their noses at me for going for the budget option;)

Nice toy :)

Tis an interesting era with new Amps. Lots of manufacturers chuck in all the features and audio codecs they can, and rightly so; it's what sells. However, I've come across some low end amps that are fully featured, but don't sound particularly good, especially when driven hard.

And I think it's a shame because the extra potential in source quality using the latest high def codecs is probably lost by cheap and poor amplification and processing stage.

Not saying that the Onkyo's like that of course - there's an interesting comparison between the Onkyo and the Sony.

It's all good for competition and product development though

I was after either an 875 or 905 before xmas but these things are having a lot of problems right now. Onkyo have been very good though in swapping out the units and upgrading them. Have a browse of the forums at AVforum.com for more info. Those that arent having problems after the firmware upgrades seem to be rating them highly.

I'm trying to get this for my dad as another pressie (he's getting far too many from me this crimbo!)

Its annoyingly one of those amps that doesnt really "get going" until you give it a fair wedge of volume.. which i dont get to do often :o

I do also have some Yamaha 6ch AV amp (one without the decoder), but this sounds better for 2 channels....

one day.......... :P

I'm sure they could fit a few more connections on the back of that if they REALLY tried :D

I've been looking at the newer Denon amps with HDMI etc... I think I'm going to wait a bit longer before I invest though.

Bloody hell! That's a monster. 6 HDMI inputs??? world's gone mad I tell thee. A bit too rich for the likes of me though....But very nice piece of kit.

Amptastic - all of these! :P

That Sony! Jeez

Steve, I think the Denon AVC-A1XVA still is king in terms of I/O capability :D

 - that's a PA system, surely?! :P

And it flippin' well should have lots of functionality - looking at the retail price on its release last year. £4800? How much?! :D

I got the new Amp yesterday, and after getting a new HDMI cable, I've spent all day setting the fecker up today.

It's the 1st time I've used the AV amp to route video signals through, and it's causing me a right heedache. Apparently the 605 will accept HDMI inputs and also Component inputs, then output everything through the HDMI OUT. Can't get it to work yet though.

I've even signed up to AVforums in the hope that those geeks, I mean those fine Gentlemen can help.

Whats the RJ45 port for?

Congratulations on posting the biggest pic ever seen on Briskoda

Yay, I too have a 605 powering my Epos Speaker system (Bi Amped front pair) Great Amp and it sounds pretty good as a pure hifi amp too, which was a great bonus:thumbup:

I had/have issues with sound from my Blue Ray laptop not being recognised by the HDMI input. My laptop will only O/P 2 channel PCM (thanks Sony you bunch of morons……..long story) which I can only get into my 605 by plugging the HDMI directly into my Kuro telly (not the 605, as I mentioned, it wont recognise it for some reason) and then taking the Optical O/P from the telly and sticking it into one of the optical I/Ps of the 605. It’s then just a case of assigning inputs to buttons. What speakers are you using??

Then the world would be full of tall skinny women spouting about feminist rights:D, building shrines to Alan Shearer and George Clooney:rolleyes: and winging about their Sound equipment:D I do have a technical job though, so I guess this helps and means I have that kind of a mind. Ie less interested in the colour of my curtains and more interested in the Specific output of my engine. Mind you I hate the colour of my living room curatins with a vengance. Still we have Awesome Sarah who is pretty technically minded and Loz seems pretty handy with her Software too, so there are a few of us.

We iz takin ovez ur wurld (r iz dat catz?)
