Anyone use ADAC breakdown cover?

Featured Replies

I'd be interested to hear anyones' experiences who have used ADAC breakdown cover?

Although based in Germany, they offer very reasonable Europe-wide breakdown cover with a good service reputation, backed up by the AA in the UK I believe.

They have a very good reputation from those who visit the Nurburgring regularly, which is where my interest stems from - I don't currently have breakdown cover as such and this looks like a good option, especially if planning a couple of trips to Germany.

I have RAC cover but just the UK only package as i havent driven my car out of the UK.

I have ADAC cover, its cheap as u like and a great service, they offer good ,edical cover too, such as air ambulance ect. definitly worth it.

Does anyone have any contact details for them? My breakdown cover runs out in January and I have a very attractive renewal quote that I'm wondering if ADAC could beat :D

They are good, it's a bit of a faf to set up an account with them though.

Hold on a bit and I'll try find the instructions......

The membership in ADAC

If your going to the nurburgring you'll need ADAC Plus membership.

From what I remember the easiest way to join is to Fax your application/payment form, the standard payment method is direct debit, as most of us dont have German bank accounts thats very difficult! so you need to add your card details to it, if you phone them you can ask for an english speaking person though.

what are the essential differences between Classic and Plus membership? (I'd assumed Plus membership)

I have used them in Germany (when I lived there) and on the occaisions that I did, they were outstanding.

Once with a bike puncture (on a Ducati 916) they arrived promptly, checked that it could not be repaired and then transported the bike to the nearest ducati dealer and then they informed when it was ready for collection.

Last year one of my mates wiped out in the Harz and dumped the content of his sump over the road, his ADAC turned up, recovered the bike and then gave the Strasse Meister a hand to put down spill soil and place oilspill markers on the road.

They recovered it back to the hotel, then when no replacement part was available transported it and him back to the UK.

Cars or bikes, I have had nothing but good experiences with them.... when they have been needed

I'm not 100% sure of the exact differences between the types of cover, but the main ones, as far as I can tell, are that plus gives you worldwide cover and some kind of legal cover if your in an accident. plus also covers you on any other form of transport (ferry, train etc).

Plus also includes recovery and repatriation to your home country, rather than to the nearest garage if they cant fix it on the roadside.

Your partner or spouse, plus children are also covered, and in any vehicle, they can also offer 14 day emergency interest free loans should you need one in an emergency situation.

You need plus for the nurburgring, as thats is the cover that will save you the €138 ish recovery charge if you breakdown or crash on the ring.

So it would seem to offer an almost complete holiday insurance package as well as breakdown?

I thibk the cost was €78 plus €2 for paying on card. Absolute bargain, in Germany, the customer is king, try getting equivalent cover from AA or RAC, it doesn't exist, plus the nearest equivalent is over double the price!

cool, that's pretty much the way I see it too :) It's soo much cheaper than the equivalent AA/RAC or whatever, so I am looking for the catch! lol :)
