Key fob will lock but not unlock

Featured Replies

My keyfob lock button will lock my vrs octavia but the unlock button will not work!!

I have opened the fob a few times and fiddled with the battery contact prongs and this seems to remedey the problem but only for a couple of presses and the its back the the old problem.

Has anybody permanently resolved this gremlin!!

Are keys covered under warantee i wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!

replies appreciated.

The keys are part of the package you buy with the car, so covered under warranty.

It sounds like the contacts on the unlock button are bent out of shape.

That'll be a dying battery in the keyfob then.

It's a CR2032 -Sold in Maplin/jessops etc. - and you'll need a good prying stick to get in there and change it.

I keep these in stock (they fit PC motherboards) which is good because mine only last 3-4 months.

Something wrong with your fob too then mate. If Arnold put new batteries in mine 20 months so far, and still enough juice to work the locking from 50 feet away.

My short battery life is probably due to the frequent (20+) unlock/lock cycles it gets everyday.

I buy the batteries (cheapies I know) at 5 for just over £1 from CPC.

I had the same problem with my old volvo s60 t5 would lock, but not open in the mornings on my drive

everywhere else i parked it was okay

later found out my next door nieghbour had got a new wireless intermither conection and it was blocking the remote signal .infact 2 weeks later got a letter off volvo highlighting a problem with remotes on my year of car

:thumbdwn:how freaky is that we must be cooking our brains with all this radiation :thumbdwn:

probably will not help you but hey im just polishing off my 13th pint so there:thumbup:
