Fabia vRS - Angel Tuning remap Rolling Road results!!

Featured Replies

As it appears that no one has done a rr with an Angel remap on a furby, i thought i'd get mine done. Here are the results:-

173 bhp & 270lb/ft torque

Not quite the 180 & 300lb they advertise, but i had my doubts anyway:rolleyes:

Still, for £300.00 you can't really go wrong, and it's still within safe tolerances of all components.

Nice smooth curves also. Go Angel!:thumbup::thumbup:

See how your clutch holds up. ;)

As long as you're happy with it, no-one else's opinion really matters. I'm sure it's good fun.

No sign of clutch slippage. I'm very carefull with feeding in the power from low(ish) down the rev range.

If in doubt - drop a gear

Just coincided with another person who's had an angel map, and the clutch has started slipping acfter just two days. :)

Yeah mine. :(

Suppose I should drop a gear really.

Will have to start saving now. £500+ hurts.

As said in the other thread, you don't need a new clutch.

A bit of empathy for your car goes a long way. Don't floor it at f*ck all RPM, just like you wouldn't bounce off the limiter in every gear.

I went with Angel tuning and find the map very smooth indeed. The power doesn't come in 1 big lump at low revs it feeds in nicely and holds it all the way through the revs. As the guy quoted me "it will drive more like a petrol" and it does.

I had it done 2 months ago with no problems but last night I was slightly worried as when giving it some stick which I quite often do, I held the revs over 4k rmp for a bit longer than normal and the turbo shutdown.

I pulled over, turned her off and restarted and all seemed ok. Is this bad?

I'd be interested in the graph, could you scan and post it ?

(Arragonis plans new driving style and calms down...):o

Graph will follow. The nice gentleman is emailing it in pdf format. will post later if i have time.

The power curve is nice and smooth. You get a lot of 'useable' power right through. Torque peaks at about 2000rpm and tails off gently.

At 4000rpm, you've still got 227 torques to play with

I'd guess yes, it is bad.

However, if it works after turning her off, the turbo obviously isnt blown. I'd hazard a guess that the ECU has shut down the turbo due to it getting hot/ over boosting... as a safety measure maybe???

Of course i could be totally and utterly wrong :D

If it peaks at 2000 that could explain my slip - right around that kind of engine speed. Interesting.

One advantage of me having my big turbo is peak torque is at 3000rpm, so that's a bit kinder to the clutch overall. :)

Thats a reasonable change for your 300 notes.

Any chance that you did a RR test before you saw AT, Marky?

No. would have been interested to see what it was putting out as standard.

not a bad result, but some standard ones are putting down that torque

  • Author

I don't mind that though. And i'm sure Mr Clutch and Mr Flywheel share the same feeling too.

Whilst some standard ones peak at 270, it's all about how far up the rev range it can sustain a decent level. Any ideas how yours it looking on that front?

i'm not knocking it thats good peak bhp, look at thebig power fabia's and they limit torque so it drives better:thumbup:

mine looks like thisFile0001.jpg

Even though your bhp and torque are excellent for a standard car, a remap would definately be worth it. I've got the BLT engine with the 9mm gasket so mine standard would probably look a lot like that. In fact i'd definately say so as i didnt notice much extra low down grunt afterwards, but did notice that the grunt carried the car for A LOT longer up the revs resulting in more work being done (BHP).

As i said, i'm now still turning 227lbs/ft at 4000rpm whereas yours has tailed off to about 175lb/ft at that point.

Get it done - you won't be disappointed!

i won't be re mapping,i am uprating all the weak links first, and in the next couple of weeks i will be fitting, cupra bushes,kw coilovers, spec stage 3+ clutch and a quaife atb diff, then i will be saving again for injectors and a new turbo, then it will be re mapped:thumbup:

Jesus, with all that you'll be able to get a custom jobbie with 200bhp+ :D

Standard parts with a bit of TLC should be fine with 170 though

i will be very upset with 200 after what i am spending,i am shooting for close to 300,but won't be going down the lpg and nos route tho,so we will have to see:thumbup:

Should be close to 250, Gary. 300 is very tough. Even I'm not expecting to get to 300 with the uprated injectors and the ported bits and pieces. However, my NOS will probably kick me over the edge.

Be nice to get to 300bhp wihtout the need for go-go juice though :)

Think of the extra weight in propane and NOS cans ;)

But surely, your producing more torque than a standard vRS across the whole rev-range.
