Hello & Thankyou

Featured Replies

Hi all

New to this site and already found it very useful, and many thanks to VRStu for a speedy response to my urgent query.

Having just bought a "W" reg Fabia comfort 8valve for the mrs's runabout, I already feel part of the fabia community with a list of common faults to attend to including gearbox repair, Anti Roll Bar & rear footwell water ingress, can't wait for the electrical gremlins to kick in!!!....... shouldn't complain though as its a great little car and fortunately I know my way around a toolbox.

Anyway, thanks to all and looking forward to using this site regularly for advice & tips.

Bye for now

Dave

Re: getting the gearbox back together,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Have you ever seen a grown man weep, well almost, you'll like this one, I've only been working on the end cover gears (its a second hand box from a breakers yard so I thought i'd better check if the 5th gear was loose too, as on my original box) I'd removed all the gears and refitted them together with the end cover and was about ready to put the box back in the car, but a nagging doubt about the correct fitting of the gear sleeve prompted my query;

Of course sods law I'd fitted it the wrong way around so stripped it down again to correct it, with the gearbox bell housing facing downward I tapped out the roll pin for the gear selector fork and guess where it went>>>>>>>> thats right straight inside the gearbox!! no amount of shaking and swearing at the box could dislodge the offending item. AGGGGHHHHH.

Well only one way, split the casing open, just got started when, gently turning over the box there it was, it just fell out, what a stroke of luck.

Well the box is back together but won't have chance to refit and test till later this week, watch this space.

Ps forgot to add to my list of faults the Skoda MS 402 only works on the tape function which upon reading the forum is par for the course. Anyway still not disheartened

Cheers

Dave

It's all good fun eh.

welcome to briskoda:thumbup:
