Skoda Assistance cover up for renewal

Featured Replies

Got the note through this morning. My breakdown cover (12 months of which I got free when I bought the car last Jan) is up for renewal.

Skoda are asking £89 for a years cover including roadside assistance, home cover, onward travel (they give you a car or hotel if yours can't be fixed), recovery to anywhere in the UK and European cover.

RAC are asking £122 for the same level of cover, the AA £129 and Green Flag £147

My question is, do I go with Skoda for my breakdown cover or try and get it elsewhere?

Isn't the Skoda Assistance done by the RAC anyway? Looks that way judging by the wording of the booklet.

My question is really, is the Skoda cover all that it's cracked up to be or should I be looking elsewhere? Looks like a good deal on the surface but then so did the extended warranty till I tried using it..... :thumbdwn:

The alternative is to go through my insurer to see what they can do for me but I think that's GreenFlag again.

How a look on MoneySavingExpert.com, lots of advice on cover there. Personally, haven't used Skoda cover so don't know how good they are.

I've used Tesco Breakdown (covered by Green Flag) and they're very good and a lot cheaper than AA/RAC. Alternatively, check out ADAC (there was a thread in General about them) :D

Hmm.... well just compared the 2 deals and RAC are offering it even cheaper at the moment but still not enough to make it cheaper than the Skoda equivalent. They're looking like the favourite at the moment based on the fact you get the full lot for a tad under £90. Will try Tesco now and see what they say. If they're anything like Direct Line though it'll be Green Flag again and £147.

Yep took on the Skoda assistance last month with extended warranty total of £269 bit worried about what Chrispy is sayin bout the warranty.

The extended warranty is 'ok' but nothing compared to the standard 3 year job. I tried claiming for my rear window coming unglued and was denied. They also won't cover water ingress under the extended one.

It's done by a 3rd party - the dealers know it as an Elita Warranty in case you're ever asked. ;)

Tesco's fully comprehensive breakdown policy is 65 quid IIRC. ADAC offer similar cover (inc Europe) for 45 Euros which is about 35 quid. I'm seriously considering them come renewal time (not that the Mondeo is likely to break down! :D )
