Scratch repair

Featured Replies

Some little scrote bricked my octavia on my way home from work this evening. It's damaged the paintwork in the centre o the nearside front door and below the rubbing strip on the back door down to what looks like the primer although there's no dents. Both areas are roughly about one and a half inches square. I guessing they may require a spot of filler. It's ben suggested that I try chips away or similar. I've been given mixed reports about them and therfore reluctant to let them loose a a preistine car. Anyone used them? Would it be better to use a skoda bodyshop?

They are franchised mate hence the mixed bag of results.

Id see if there are any other smart repair places.

I know that Halfords now offer the same service so it might be an option

I've used my local ChipsAway bloke a couple of times and he's been great.

1st time he got rid of two 5 to 6" long scratches on the front wing & bonnet when i had my last car. The this last year i called him out to look at a half inch square scrape that some dipstick had done with their car door..... I'd tried rubbing it out myself but he managed it in about 20 seconds!!!!!

Cheers

Dave.

Post some pics up of the damage, if you can. As has been said, it's a mixed bag with ChipsAway.

The South Manchester guy seems to get good reviews, if it's the same guy as a couple of years ago (Mark). My Dad used him a couple of times for some sill damage, and stonechips.

Steve

Chips away are fantastic. I used them just last weekend to respray 5 scratch/dent marks on the Beetle where some muppet in an SUV had decided to mount the back wing. The guy arrived at 9am on a Saturday (!) and spent the next 2 hrs with filler, paint, buffers etc and there was NO way you could tell any work had been done on the car.
