What a week!!!!

Featured Replies

Monday - Large stone kicked up by 4x4 on 'a' road close to home on my journey to Glasgow and I watch it land on my nearside front wing beside the bonnet before bouncing onto my windscreen which sends a large crack across the passenger side. No windscreen in stock so I need to wait, and large dent and scratch about 10cm long on top of wing through to bear metal!

Tuesday - Windscreen does not appear! Quote for wing work to keep warranty covered £495 plus vat. Windscreen through insurance but I do not want to loose 5 years no claims so I will have to fix wing myself. Rear wheel bearings start to hum at low low speeds. What next?

Today - Windscreen fitted, but fitter had his wheetabix this morning and sheared the n/s wiper arm bolt off! One wiper on my wagon!

I am not leaving the house today as its not my week!

I too had to have a new windscreen after stone damage, only to have another large chip some three months later that was repaired as the windscreen had not cracked. However, the chip was very deep. In 44 years of motoring I have never had a cracked windscreen, plenty of small cosmetic chips, but no breakages. I wonder if the Skoda screens are too thin, and/or under too much tension?

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. The quote for the wing seems a little high. I had to have my front wing repaired in the summer ( a neighbours kid ran into it with his bike. I had a large dent and also scratches down to the metal. The total cost of the repair was only about £250 all in. The job was carried out at the body shop at my local dealer which also happens to be the BMW approved bodyshop for the area (so no back street alley job!). What are they doing for £500!!!

Simple rustprook, fill and paint match the wing I think. Problem is its on top of the wing and whole area on top of needs prep and paint to match bonnet and door I thought this was to much money also. Stealer has no bodyshop but went to his recommendation. I intend to sort out another couple of quotes tomorrow. Ta for the info.

£500, you could get a new wing plus panel blending for less than that :o

What a poo week you've had :thumbdwn:

The rear wheel humming could well be your tyres, it's a well documented phenomenon and I have personal experience of it. They don't need to be seriously worn to make a noise either. It's worth checking out.

These things are sent to try us Paul, try getting carjacked, its EVEN more "Fun".

Tried 3 breakers and no luck. Actually ended up with a Zafira - makes you realise what a good motor the Octy vRS is! Still at least it keeps the rain off and the windscreen company have tried. Breaks my heart walking past my motor every morning but at least it will feel like a ferrari again again after the child chariot. Ta for the support and I know it could be a lot worse.
