Heated Door Mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a vRS which is supposed to have heated door mirrors, well it does seem to have 1 watt glow worms atempting to clear the ice, are they generally C*** on this model or just on my car.

The ones on the Superb, were, well Superb, steaming hot....

Cheers,

Dwain

mine appear to be a waste of a symbol on the button too. :thumbdwn:

On my fabia they worked a treat.

It was on my 'to mention' list when the car is in for a service.

MPM :D

Mine defrost the ice on my mirrors in under 2 minutes.

By the time I need to use them - they are clear. Probably 1-2 mins max. :)

work well for me

Mine work fine to, I assume you are putting the mirror control stick into the heating on position.

Perfect here too.

Work ok for me but my previous car, a Toyota Avensis, did have kettle elements in the mirrors so I was spoilt but the Octy's do the job.

mines on and works fine, probably quicker than the rear window one.

Mine work fine too. I would echo that check that the control is turned to face forward.

How do you get the stick to remain on the heated section?

Mine will not stay in the correct position :(

it should click into place as far as i can remember.. just keep turning till it clicks into place .

Mine are good too - they clear before the windscreen does.

If you're having trouble getting the kn0b to stay in the correct position, then that could be why you're aren't so good...

and dont forget they only come on when you have your rear demister on as well

Really? I have just checked my manual and it does not say that.

I thought they came on when the temperature reached a certain low level, I did not know they were connected to the demister, also the passenger side is quicker than the drivers side on mine. By the way have a bloody great christmas as well.

Really? Then why do people have trouble with them burning out if left on all the time - I can't imagine they run the demister too?

I assumed this was why VAG introduced the 'off' position to the switch in later models?

When mine is clicked onto the heat setting the dot is opposite the 0 that is in between the L and R symbols. As in photo (not the best quality sorry)

I think the heater logo is placed where it is just so that you can see which side the heater control is on.

Mine is also opposite of the 0.

Is it true that you have to have rear demister on when you want to heat the mirrors?

I was reading the manual and there said that the heater is on, unless the temperature is above 4˚C then he automaticly go off no mater the position of the switch.

Thank you for that

I thought the dot had to be next to the heat symbol :o

No worries, your more than welcome.

So it's not just me then. My heated door mirrors work fine but I thought there was something wrong with the switch because the dot didn't line up with the heat symbol.

Thanks from me too:thumbup:

FTM was right! :)

Rear demister needs to be on!

Thanks a lot! :D

Used them this morning and worked a treat :)

Ok, being a real doughnut here. how the F do you get these things on? I make sure the heated rear screen is on. I have pushed pulled poked even sung to the knob that does my mirror movements and nothing. 07 Vrs so should have it and should be working if i could find out how to switch them on.
