What do you want to get out of it?

Performance obviously but what other critiera?

Sound, looks, price etc.

sounds are important i want a deep growl:) ease of fitment also important don't want to mod anything to get it to fit bearing in mind i have xenons looks like it's gonna be a tight fit.price isn't the biggest issue just want the right product best quality etc.i'm leaning towards the carbonio but the only thing bothering me is the separate alu piece which connects the filter to the carbon pipe.why didn't they just make it one piece?it just detracts a little from the overall quality of the product although i'm sure it doesn't effect performance as it's protected from engine heat down inside the bumperthanks nat

For sounds it's either the Carbonio or the ABD then. I think ColinD has one of the Carbonio fitted to his WRC so he could give you some pointers to it's fitment. I'm thinking along the lines that he has Xenon to.

IIRC the ABD LAN pipe is complete all the way from the MAF housing to the filter.

How about the Neuspeed CAI? Doesn't have a LAN pipe but a heat shield and you'd probably have to run some piping from the lower grill for more air. I think the filter more or less fits directly to the MAF housing.

I have a Dynatwist which will probably be too quiet for you. ;)

HTH.

Replacement panel filter and dremmel out the fins from the airbox

Replacement panel filter and dremmel out the fins from the airbox
cheaper option but i don't want to mess about with the airbox as i will be refitting for dealer visits and when the car is sold on

also wouldn't that just draw in hot engine air?

thanks

Nat,

Further to email if your planning on refitting, A plain cone and heat shield is going to be the best bet. Summary of email = yes it fits, dam tight and annoying with xennons.

ps

My final comment on during the night of fitting:

Thats only coming of when it gets scrapped.

Normal Octys fitting is fine, it's these stupid xennons.

thanks for the info colin,i will bite the bullet and go with a cai as dealer visits won't be that frequent(fingers crossed)car is on variable service.have been searching the net tonight and found neuspeed now have a race series cai available,i believe awesome are the importers will have a chat with them on sat at gti inters(but i do like that carbon finish of the carbonio)

thanks alot

Awsome have today (Thursday) had a shipment from Carbonio arrive. They will NOT be taking any stock to GTI International. I have ordered and paid for one today and will be collecting it on Sunday from them. Got my Briskoda discount so well pleased !!

I think I dealt with Jim today, nice and helpful...

Awsome are mainly going to plug the ABD range of stuff...

As a user of the ABD LAN kit I can say I am still pleased with it. The sound never ceases to impress (except the wife who hates it) and caused Jabba to change their minds on CAIs in general such was the engine performance. Regarding the sheared bolt I believe this is because those affected have the pipe bolted in too tight and when applying power the engine twist (without the ABD racing engine mounts - as Des used in his old stead) caused the spot-welded bolt to break as the standard filter box just uses the bolt to fix it in place. The bolt can be replaced without too much problem. I have inspected the K& N filter and so far it is very clean after 6k miles.
