Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a VRS and a RS

A "v" is missing :)

Oh, and welcome :)

nothing! people just call them one of the two because the badge is confusing!

on paper my car is officially an RS. but its actually a vRS. the fact that the badge only says RS and assumes you guess that the angled bit before means v confuses i guess!

vRS is the official term used by Skoda.

Heh I had this trouble when selecting my car for insurance - it listed both RS and VRS, MOT cert states RS whilst sticker on boot states VRS - Go figure.

Both the same ;)

Wasn't it a side effect of the ford-vs-skoda battle over who used 'RS' first?

Yup, I think so. Possibly because of the re use of it when the Focus RS arrived on the scene.

Both Skoda and Ford have been rallying for years.

Skoda called it RS, Rally Sport. But Ford cryed because they had the RS200, Escorts and Sierra. with RS models which also stood for Rally Sport.

So Skoda put a V (Victory) in front just to make Ford happy.

Renault get away with the Megane RS because its Renault Sport...

Abroad though, the laws are different and Skoda dont have to use the V so they are just RS's.
