Unless people object to a newbie type (been on the forum since 05-04-2007 ) joining in with this outing then I'm thinking of turning up as I'm only about 40 miles down the road.

Just to let you know that if the " a longer drive will take in some of the finest roads in the Peak District " was going to include the A57 snake pass then you might be in trouble -

A57 [snake Pass] closed affecting all driving lanes

- Sheffield Road closed both ways between the Shirebrook Drive junction and the A6013 junction in Glossop, because of a landslip.

just seen this on the north west news , just confirming that the snake pass will be closed for at least a week

May not be able to make this now.. car has decided its happier as a SDi.

Surely the whole of the pass isn't closed?? Take it this means the route will need drastically altering... :(

That would be shame... but im sure we'll find another route that will be just as good.

May just be a section of the road closed that we can divert around...

I don't jet wash my car though. It takes me hours and my back aches and I get all cold and wet and stuff :( it will also be dark so I'd have to have to spotlight on outside and it only shines on one side of the car. It's just generally annoying tbh

The Snake Pass isn't part of this meet's driving route so there's no need to panic.

I thought of something we can do too... all make a note of how much fuel they used driving to/from and during the meet and we could work out our combined fuel consumption! hehe
