Hi,

I recently re-installed my system after getting a nasty virus (MusCDriverV32 - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/tech-shed/strange-virus/92626/). Everything now works fine apart from my pictures. When trying to view in Windows Picture & Fax Viewer I get 'No preview available' and with Paint I get 'Access was Denied'.

The pictures are definitely still there and even the one's backup onto an external drive do the same. It therefore appears to be something to do with permissions, possibly because I changed the computer name from 'Jonathan' to 'Gilly' when re-installing?

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

Jon.

Smashing it up and down? (worked for the pressure washer :P)

Buy a bisexual computer?

DId you just reinstall?

Are you using a different username?

Are you using NTFS?

It sounds like you have a permissions issue and dont have read/write access to the files. You can fix them by taking ownership of the folder and files within.

Right click, Properties on folder, then security tab. Click advanced, go onto the owner tab and pick your username, make sure you have change permissions on child objects selected and click ok.

Some of us might take the pee sometimes Manny, but if it weren't for people like you, giving instant helpful advice, the world would be a lot more stressful, and generally pooier.

Thank you ( on Gillies behalf as well I am sure.)

So Jon, unable to view your porn collection?

Ever wonder how you caught that virus in the first place

So many words of wisdom :)

Mannyo - when right clicking on the folder I don't have a security tab. This is where I am getting stuck.

Okay, got the security tab back and changed ownership, but still no joy.

Strange, it doent sound like its NTFS formated then. If you do a properties on the drive itself what does it say next to filesystem. FAT or FAT32 has no security.

Start> Run then type: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll and click OK

If that doesn't correct the problem try

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

Chris

Actually - just thought.

Given the images you post perhaps we'd be doing Brisky a disservice by telling you all this stuff

Mind, if you used proper backup procedures etc (as suggested once), then you wouldn't need to ask for help :P
