Air bag warning light

Featured Replies

I got the Octavia (1999) back from a service and MOT yesterday (not done by Skoda dealer) and noticed that the air bag warning light was on. I've done a search here and it seems that it may be something to do with the driver's seat. I did have to re-adjust it when I picked the car up. When I spoke to the chap who did it he said that he hadn't noticed the light.

Is it a simple fix to sort this out? I've got to take the car back in tomorrow to have a track rod end replaced.

Update.

I've just been to the car and moved the driver's seat right back. When I tried to move it forward it wouldn't go very far. Feeling under the squab I felt a large spring which was loose. I took it out and now the seat moves back and forth freely. But I've now got a spring and I dont know what it does! Oh ****!

Cheers.

Thanks for clearing that up about the spring. Skoda do seem to like using plastic parts which are then over stressed, eg electric window winder mechanism operating cable attachment. I've replaced two in the last year.

Just picked car up from having O/S track rod end replaced and was told that the passenger seat also had a spring laying underneath doing nothing!
