DMF change every time or just if its worn?

Featured Replies

going to pop a new clutch in the vrs in the new year and i was wondering if in your opinion its a must to change the DMF every time or if its worn or blue from clutch slip?

Many thanks in advance

get a clutch that can handle an SMF, as the price of a new DMF and uprated clutch will equal the price of a higher rated clutch and uprated SMF

Do you have any bad vibrations from the flywheel? How many miles have you done? and finally how loing has it be slipping?

I knew my DMF was knackered so i got a new one to put in before i even started.

Depends really but for the sake of £200 i would be putting a new one in what ever condition its in,

You can always flog the old one if it turns out to be ok.

one carefree owner bla bla bla......

:rofl:

Joking aside, that would be a really good buy for someone, the DMF's retail at 380+vat and i struggled to find one under £200 and that was calling in favours from trade friends :D

:rofl::rofl:sir you misquote me

cars done 40k on and clutch is just starting to slip due to a remap. The method in my thinking was to change the clutch straight away before it blues up the flywheel. As for the single mass flywheel ive sat in a car thats got 1 and i think the vibration at idle would drive me crazy.

The later helix ones have a heavier flywheel apparently which make the vibration less worse.

Pop a new Dmf in And a sach performance set-up, i am over the moon with mine, its awesome :thumbup:

are sachs cheaper if you import them. i think uk prices seem a bit high for a vrs clutch

I too recommend the Sach clutch, you wont be disapointed. My clutch started to slip at 90k I then got it remapped, it slipped even more, got the new clutch fitted (didn't replace the DMF) and have had no problems.

yeah SMF on mines does vibrate a bit but i have the later revised one, i dont live in a city so the vibration on idle really isnt an issue for me, to stop the rattle just put your foot on the clutch pedal, ahhh silence
