You need to turn on macro mode on your camera :D

would look much better having this in the engine bay though ;)

I admire the DIY approach whenever possible, but the only advantages in taking this approach is retaining the stock appearance as well as retaining the anti-shudder valve.

You disable the EGR system, the CEL light goes on within a couple of days usually, bit later if you turn down the EGR recirc cycle...

Have been experimenting with a new "EGR delete"map from my tuner Richard Washbrook([email protected]).

NO CEL for over a month of running an Allard pipe, which really looks the biz....

Anti-shudder valave is over-rated IMHO - I dont notice any shut down shudder probs... If the engine is going to develop diesel runaway that's a nother issue.

Getting a new set of maps from Rich shortly based on my feedback and logs - looking fwd to seeing what happens next....

Looks great - what does it do?

You seem to mention getting maps ever other week, same as devonutopia - not a bad thing of course. Do you manage to get a deal or spend £400 a time?

got a deal - I'm a tester for some new maps for hot climates by Rich, and they get tweaked on one of my two ECU's while the other is in the car.

You can contact Rich directly on his email if you want to learn more.... He's a really great guy....

I like the look of the allard pipe, but i dont like not having the anti shudder. I know it doesnt make a difference to the normal running of the engine but ive seen quite a few diesels overrun and the end result aint pretty ;)

I will be able to get round the CEL light with out modification to the software, the servo which controls the actual valve part has been removed but can still be connected to the vac pipe which goes to the vac control unit. then the engine will think its got an egr valve when in fact it hasnt

I did 20k miles on my car in about a year, never had any problems without the anti shudder valve on, no over run or anything. Richard did look at it and he said it didnt really notice the car not having an anti shudder valve on when i took him out then turned the engine off with him in the car.....

I never really minded having the CEL light on because i vag com'd it every 2 weeks.

I thought it looked good with all the allard made pipework and stuff, certanly did when it was all polished up :D

Looks great - what does it do?

Allard replaced the usual plastic pipe for the aluminium one, then the silicon 90 degree pipe at the top, which went onto the allard EGR replacement pipe thingy, which my spa boost gauge was hooked up to....

I dont understand how you will not get a CEL light (assuming you have not had it mapped out) I thought the CEL was brought on via MAF/MAP and |EGR solenoid and sometimes N18 depending on VW engine.

over a month running with Allard- NO CEL light. My tuner knows his stuff but good....

sorry - repeating myself

i may get richard to map my cupra when i get it...... he can practice on it

 great windup matey!

richard washbrook tdi - Google Search

I spent some time with Rich when he visited out here early on in the year. He showed me the map parameters that I had on the car at that time, and explained how he could improve on it.

I have seen many professors give lectures on complex topics and he was exactly the same way. Very deep understanding of the topic of mapping imho.... Being a racer himself and changing his maps daily or every other day on his Polo 1.9PD surely must have helped...

You obviously know his abilities as well.

Cheers
