secondly can anyone tell me what the standard front brake disk size is for my car

mine is a 2002 octavia vrs?

im getting some new disks and pads and without taking one off to measure i need to know what size

i understand they come in 280mm or 288mm and 312mm sizes

Yours are 312mm, same as fitted to MK1 Audi TT.
