Lowering Options

Featured Replies

Hi there, i want to get the felicia lowered in the next couple of months, wondering what my options are. Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts seem to do good deals;

- Jamex 40mm springs --- 58 quid

- Spax 35mm springs --- 110 quid

Also, what are these HP coilovers everyone's on about?

Whats my best option for cost / benefit?

Cheers

HP coilovers are like an all in one unit. IIRC cost about £350.

I don't understand Czech, sorry :)

HP SPORTING

I believe that butts do the HP sets for around the price you said.

The best ones available... i think the front sits higher than the back but does a world of good for your handling!

Yea, dunno how good Jamex are....

These HP coilovers, how far do they lower and aren't they adjustable or something? How do you adjust them?

the HP's will set the car up to handle the best, and still be usable. they will drop the rear right down but only drop the front a little. this means you can drive the car at silly speed, over anything you like, speed bumps etc...

the HP's are adjustable for right hight with three set positions.

Right, well i think coilovers are just a little bit out of my budget, so i've narrowed it down to the following options....any ideas?

- Jamex (Front + Rear 40mm) £57.99

- Spax (Front + Rear 35mm) £98.99

- H&R (Front 45mm, Rear 15mm) £137.48

- Cobra (Front + Rear 40mm) £121.64

- FK (Front 35mm, Rear 40mm) £114.29

- Pi (Front + Rear 35mm) £122.78

Cheers

i used the ones from butts co. (think there s-max) for quite a while. they were progressive and the paint held up fine, but there a little stiff for the dampers, but only if your super fussy about the handling (like me).

hit the jamex. i've a set of them in the rat since august and they're yet to break. and i like to drive over stuff :D

pinky dot he HPs not go right down? was considering some but i'm after ultra-low, not handling. i'm no racer ;)

Jamex seem to get a real slating elsewhere...what's the ride height / comfort like?

The other thing with the FK springs is that anywhere i've seen them listed it's always for a 'Felicia Sedan/Saloon' ......any ideas?

the HP's have 3 set hights. not the threaded style. so if your looking to slam the car, i would go for lowering springs. then cut them down!!!!!

the only safe way to do this is to take the piston rods out of the dampers, and have the tops re machined so the dampers are shorter. this is hard it you dont have access to a machine shop

better than that pinky, the Koni shocks I got (good for 80mm drop i think) are inserts for the struts and save any machining rubbish :D and i'm having springs made.

ak mate the jamex ride just fine. passed the mot for a start, lower about, well, 35mm i guess, and i've been plenty comfortable in my rat. possibly rides nicer than my mums estate although those springs have 127K on them! certainly wont fault the jamex and i've done a few thousand on the fronts and maybe a thous on the rears now...

got any pic's???

I just got some G-max springs for mine, is a 35mm drop, on a felly noticable?

thanks

yes

even on 15" alloys?

maybe sit the arch above the tyre?

pinky i'll upload some soon that are fresh... computer switching because i can't work PCs and they keep breaking ;)

in the meantime theres a photobucket account under surprising_skoda which i've heard may have the odd favorit picture ;)

i have heard that fiesta XR2 front suspention is a direct drop in... (can't vouch for that myself but i have heard it from a very reliable source!)

that may be the way to go! lots of readily avaible units for cheep

  • 1 year later...

Can anyone confirm if XR2 suspension fits without modification?

not yet, could do with someone wipping a set of one in a scrap yard and seeing.

Can anyone confirm if XR2 suspension fits without modification?

lol. what makes them so useless?

what happened :P ?

erm they are too long..... :o better off using the felicia ones
