Lights / ignition question

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been asked before (newbie alert!!) I did search though and could not see anything...

When I take the keys out of the ignition on my VRS the main headlights go out and just the side lights stay on. A good idea on paper but I live in a rural area and could do with keeping the full lights on while I unlock my gate / open front door, without keeping the engine running and keys in the car (keys are on same keyring).

My Skoda dealer said there was no way around this, is this the case does anyone know? :)

Two easy fixes, as you are not a city dweller carry a torch (most country folk do) or trade up to a quality marque that offers you "follow me home etc" lights-on delay - oh, and finally why not get a fancy pir assisted lighting system for around your property - that is useful for lots of reasons. Maybe you should trade-in for a spec'd up Seat Leon FR 2.0TDI if the first and last suggestion are no good for your situation. (big boast - I've even got a toilet fan timer controlling two low energy lights in my garage - they are triggered by the usual pir/light outside but they add another 10 minutes to lights on in the garage just in case its needed). The beauty of pir controlled outside lights is that they help visitors find your gate and front door - unless of course all your friends and visitors already have "follow me home" things in their cars!!

don't think you can do this by programming - you'd need a good auto electrician to rewire the lights for you or fit a small flashlight somewhere handy.....

Switch on the hazard lights?
