Will i need to get my Stream coded if i Disconnect it?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Got a Dension VW Kit for my birthday so wish to get it hooked up to my Octy.

can anyone tell me before i start when i disconnect the Stereo will it need to be coded again? i couldnt see a code in the books anywhere and it talks about 'comfort coding' which seems to imply that it can be disconnected and reconnected with no problems?

Hi,

I fitted one of these to mine, but didn't disconnect the battery, and had no problems. I've since had the battery off several times and the stereo didn't ask for the code on any occasion, even when I swapped it for a MFD2 and back.

Hope this helps,

Martin.

You shouldn't need a code as it is linked to the ECU and Immo.

Hi daz_pd

Have you fitted your Dension yet ?

Is your Stream a non MP3 version ?

Does your Dension work ?

Which Ipod are you using, is it the new Classic ?

Sooooooo many questions :)

The reason I ask is that iPod Car Kit Direct have removed any Densions that reference the Stream HU. When I phoned them they said there was a lot of trouble with Skoda changing the HU internals !! and the Dension may or may not work. So they removed the Stream reference so as to stop any will it/wont it work lottery.

The compatability chart at Dension Compatibility shows slight problems with the Ipod Classic.

I got myself an Ipod Classic just for use in the car and am a bit gutted that it may not work. At the moment I am using a Griffin FM transmitter and it is crap. Lots of interference.

I have a VW Dension sitting at my dealers waiting for me to pick up but was unsure as to how well it would work :( If at all.

I have a Stream non MP3.

Cheers

Okay i managed to get it fitted today the way i wanted it, hidden from view although im tempted to get a mount too!

5th Gen Ipod Video and original Stream, all working together, although strangely when i reconnected the battery i got the power steering warning light on! i drove the car about 5 metres and it went off!

Glad you're up and running with no problems.

I am tempted to try myself now :D

What happens when you use CD6 ? I have never quite understood Densions explanation.

lol i must go and press it, but basically it allows you to access a menu of sorts, to let you pick specific playlists or transfer control to your ipod rather than stereo.

Its an easy enough install cabling wise, but a bit fiddly getting the cables where you want them
