Fabia vRS non-OEM front fog light question

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm not alone I know in finding a shattered front fog light on my Fabia vRS. I am probably not alone in finding it hard to believe replacement is a bumper off job... but it is, so I will live with it.

I got my replacement lamp on Ebay for £25+P&P, and as it turned up on Thursday, I set aside a few hours today to fit it. So, bumper came off - nice and easy, save for the irritating plastic clips at the front edge - inevitably one of the 'pins' has vanished!!

Once the bumper is off, taking the light out is easy.. and it was at this point I noticed that the new one looked totally different to the original. Now, to make sure that I'm not being dense, could anyone that has replaced their front foglight with a non-VAG original item please have a look at the following and confirm for me that I have the wrong light?

Your help on this is, as ever, appreciated - the car is currently without bumper looking very sorry for itself parked in the in-law's garage!

Thanks

Stu

Yup they look completely different, however I got mine from eBay and it was the correct part.

Cheers, thanks for that. I've dropped a mail to the seller, so hopefully it'll be a straight-forward swap over.

I'm looking at the foglights on ebay at present as one of the lights on one of our cars has got a crack across it....... I have noticed that some sellers sell original VAG lights and others sell cheaper copies...... Could this be the problem???

Cheers

Dave.

The one I bought is a non-VAG 'copy' part - it was marketed and priced as such. I've heard of a few folks on here successfully fitting such parts, os it shouldn't be an issue.... (he says with his optimistic hat on!)

Cheers,

Stu

Replaced one of mine a few weeks ago - £29.50 plus VAT from GSF car parts.Perfect fit, looks just like the original VAG part. GSF part No. 94374D n/s or 94374F o/s if that's any help.

Yeah, at this stage I'd just put it down to bad luck that they just sent the wrong item. Failing that, do as Mosquito suggests and give GSF a call.

Hmmm, we have a cracked foglight but there is no way I am getting the bumper off nor paying the dealer to do it!!!

The one on the right is the same as the Felicia and used on the early VRSs where the fixing screws go in vertically, hence the need to remove the bumper. The left hand one is for a later Fabia where the screws go in horizontally. If you remove the surround you can check what type it is.

Interesting, thanks. When you say later, do you know dates? Our Fabia is a 2005 model and the light on the right is the one that came off the car.

Bigw2069 - thanks for the link, might go down that route in the end.

Mosquito - can I ask what year your car is please? So, were your lights the same as mine (right one in the picture)? Thanks

Mossman - bumper removal (using the Forge guide referenced on this site) was actually pretty easy - 20 mins it took.

Thanks again to all.

'fraid not I've got an 07MY and can confirm the bumper has to come off, They screw in vertically from the top.:thumbdwn:

Just a quick update, I have ordered a replacement light from my local dealer and will be picking it up tomorrow. Part numbers are:

6H0 941 699A (NEARSIDE)

6H0 941 700A (OFFSIDE)

Cost was £52.11 including VAT

Substantially more than the non-VAG ones, or the VAG from HK ones listed above, but I need the car back together ASAP, so needed the fastest option.

Have requested refund from the Ebay seller that sent the wrong light through, though it'll probably end up costing me two lots of postage :(

Cheers

In that case the right hand pictured Felicia fog lamp is specific to the VRS and the left hand pictured one is fitted to the lesser models - we fitted one of the left hand pictured ones to a 54 plate Ambiente a while back. The different parts are likely to be due to different bumper designs.

Did the ebay seller specifically say that they fit VRS or fit a Fabia? as they do fit a Fabia but not the VRS.

Stated as vRS specific. All good now though as they are refunding me and I'll pick up the correct part from Skoda shortly.

Thanks again for all the help.

Cheers
