Mongrel broke down again!

Featured Replies

Only this time in the middle of a fairly busy industrial estate - right before a mini roundabout. Once I'd pushed the car over the road I was lucky to be able to catch a mechanic mate of mine who was shopping nearby (damn good timing)

So, he drove the car home for me without the clutch (he's used to doing that apparently ), and I drove his 325i droptop. :D

It seems the hydrualic pipe which has been suspect throughout my new clutch swap has now split at the OTHER end from the T piece that caused so much aggravation before. So it looks like I'm using an old lexus for work until I my pipe comes from Skoda.....

She'll be right before long though!:thumbup:

teething probs mate - it is a new car after all now....

is it the pipe that connects to the hydraulic bearing? or was it one outside of the bell housing?

Just hoping its not inside as your nice new clutch will be scrap.................

Nope - the one outside. As I've now been told, the old pd100 (5 speed) hydraulic pipe had to "manipulated" to fit into the 6 speed box and I guess over time this pipe has been subject to non-oem pressures. Possibly, the work done to fit the new clutch may have just moved it around a little too much and it's finally split. Was going to happen ultimately at some point. :)

Just waiting on Skoda then - will chase up the pd130 pipe asap otherwise I'll have to look at scrapyards.... At least I have a nice old Lexus GS300 to mope around in until it's sorted.

ah thats good then :D id assume you'd be ****ed if it was on the inside  as you'd have to say bye bye to your nice new clutch :(

Nothing's going to break that damn clutch. :D

Why not put a new one inside if it is old just in case?

Bad luck Jason and Mongrel.

Just in case you were wondering, the wiper blades you gave me are still going strong.

New pipe has been on back-order with Skoda since the first time it leaked (and fixed by ordering a new T) - Going to chase up the order today. Seems a bit silly the whole of VAG can't get a new hydraulic pipe sent within a couple of weeks!

just wonder if out of all the hoses on the car - this would be the most deserving of being a custom-braided jobbie......

The International ordering/Skoda factory was closed till yesterday - I was told by my dealer out here.

give em hell Jase!

:woot: Pipe is in the dealers. Picking it up after work - The mongrel should be back and 100% (well, maybe 99% ;)) reliable by midweek.

Well, I have her back now but I think I now have a split N75 pipe, or a dodgy actuator. My turbo insists on spooling to WAY off the scale of my 2.5bar gauge, and has gone into limp mode on "pressure charge control - deviation" reasons. Will have to look for split pipes at the weekend - it's definitely making an odd noise though - like an on and lift off boost hissing/whirring....

Glad all this is happening now and not during the show season. :D

shame to hear about the probs jase, you put so much time into the car.

again - you've really taken the Mongrel to new levels of power - some teething problems initally are to be expected...

Hope you get it all back on track (no pun intended) soon matey...
