Going to book car in for a number of issues with a new dealer, but have a new noise from my 06 plate VRS combi.

I get a single loud knock from the passenger side footwell when I engage the clutch in 1st and pull away and again if at low speeds when reapplying the accelerator after taking my foot off it completely (for example in slow moving traffic). This happens in both 1st and 2nd gears. Anyone have an idea of what this might be _ it is definitely a mechanical knock?

Is there any play in the exhaust pipe? Sometimes exhaust rubber hangers stretch?

Sounds like something knocking upon power takeup. Gearbox or CV joint but this is unlikely on such a new car. My TDI 'clonks' when taking up power at low revs in high gears but it's done it from day 1.

Either that or (as mentioned) something is physically knocking under the bonnet when you accelerate.

this is exactly the same problem as i have. anybody know the answer. i got it on my fabia vrs and it is driving me nuts!

it must be a vag thing, my Seat Ibiza TDi sport used to do the same thing, amongst other annoying issues. The Octy is very good in comparison.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the heat shield for the exhaust... sorted under warranty

thanks had a good poke around in that area all seems ok, thinking fingers crossed could be an engine mount. hope i can sort it before i loose it, and smash it with my maglite.
