This is why you should blank your number plates online...

That looks to me like the same car advertised in a couple of places.

What makes you think it's fraud?

What makes you think it's fraud?

The one on Pistonheads was on for £4k, but the ebay one was sold 'buy it now' (i.e. first bidder) for £6k?

So the buyer speaks to the seller to arrange picking it up........

If they don't have the car then he isn't going to hand over his wedge of cash

Sorry, should make it clearer.

The guy put up an eBAY auction, no reserve etc, perfectly legitimately.

However, the same car then "appeared" on Pistonheads for a laughably cheap £4k (car is worth £6-7k). Somebody had cloned his ebay ad and posted it up on PH... There is a question at the end of the auction clarifying things! :)

But they could easily do the same without the numberplates being visible , and as I said , if they don't have the car for you to buy then you shouldn't hand over the cash.

It's only going to catch out someone who's so greedy that they lose all common sense when they think they have a bargain - the basis of any successful scam

Hopefully. Personally, I'd never pay for anything valuable in a small ad without seeing it, but then there's one born every minute I suppose...

Yes I suppose they could :o.

Plus one of the first things I ask for when I'm interested in a car is for the reg number so I can confirm HPI status and also how much it would cost me to insure!
