questions about jbs@chesterfield and custom remapping?

Featured Replies

it wont be for a while but i am definatly going to get my fabia remapped, ive been looking at all the usual people that offer remapping such as amd, revo, jabbasport etc

i live in sheffield and ive noticed that a company called jbs offer a remapping service and use custom code software to do so, has anyone used them before and are they any good?

the reason i ask is because i know the clutch is a weakpoint on the vrs and although i want to get the car remapped i dont ideally want to kill the clutch  i know custom code offer a generic like most and a custom remap.

if i paid a bit more and went for a custom one just how custom are the maps? can i specify how much (within reason) and where my car makes its power and torque?

the reason i ask is that i know some generic maps can be aggressive on delivery and if not careful will eat my clutch :thumbdwn:

thanks simon

JBS are a good reputable company, I had them do work on my fabia before, and lots of people have used them with success..... (eddey H had them build his 400+bhp octy!)

and a with a custom map, you can reduce the torque to help with the clutch life :)

Custom Code 1 isnt custom its just a generic remap but im sure that they can turn the boost down to save your clutch etc

yes thanks mate i know they do a generic one but they also do a custom map too dont they?

What's confusing is that Custom Code is the trademark name of the company who offer the remaps. JBS are, in effect, a dealer for them.

There are different levels of CC map available: 1, 2 and 3 generally. 1 is generic with 2 and 3 offering progressive amount of tweakability, usually if you have other performance modifications that the map can make use of.

I've used JBS in the past too, and was happy with their service.

Steve

Do they do Mazda's?

Don't think so; only VAG as far as I'm aware. Ring them and check though!

What about one of the Ford tuners for yours? If maps are available for the ST and S60R, then I'm sure they sort the Maz

Steve

Cheers Steve but The Mazda, contrary to poular belief is a four pot 2.3T, whereas the Focus ST and the T5 are 5 pot 2.5T's

Ooops, my bad! That's a new thing for today - always thought it was a 5-pot as well :o

Steve

No it's rather annoying as it seems that this engine was designed purely for the Mazda MPS models (all 2 of them) so no tuner in Englandcestershire will touch them!

I'm seeing that now, having done a quick Google round. Seems it traces its ancestry to a Ford Duratec based 2.0, bored out and 'charged? Seems a little odd, given the other units available

Steve

thats a shame... it would be interesting to see what a tuned version of you're engine could do! keep looking, and keep us posted :)

yes it can get confusing,

what i was after knowing was if i went for a stage 2 custom map even though i have no other mods can i get the map tailored to how i want it? i.e when and where the torque builds and peaks etc?

or would i be better getting a stage one generic cusom code map as ive read they are one of the smoothest generic maps

There has been progress in the US and Australia but not here unfortunately.

Aus are gettin a 3MPS extreme with 280BHP!

Australias not that far away... oh, hang on ... it is! lol..... do you have any skills?! you could find a niche and start a business ... :D

I wish! Mind you it wouldn't be much of a business as there are only four other MPS owners in the whole of the UK! :D

Yes, there'll be no problem getting a CC S2 :) - if you want it tweaked as you like it. The S2 can be as smooth as the S1, if that's how you want it

thanks mate, im going to give jbs a ring and see what they say, the only other mods ill prob do are the pd160 and green panel filter although i quite like the look of the milltek system for the fabia

hi there mate i was looking around for different rempas and i went for cc 1 from jbs it is one of the best out there plus it is mapped so it does not eat through your clutch as there is njo aggressive torque spike but just keeps pulling through the range i had my pd160 fitted here and my green panel filter very very happy with there service big mike is the one to ask for when you call good luck mate

oh i am not doing anymore to my car mechanically it is fast enough at around 175bhp with the cc1 panel filter and pd160 mate
