Climatronic issues

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me if the compressor should work all the time and if the fan on the radiator should cut in and out or stay on all the time. The reason I ask is, that tonight I have neither the compressor nor the fan, outside temp is 4 degrees and my local dealer seems to think neither will work until the temp is higher, but seem to remember it worked all the time on my superb regardless of outside temp.

I'd think the compressor should be running until the interior is up to temperature, and then be intermittent, because one of the functions of Climatronic is interior humidity control, which requires the air conditioning to run.

The fan is controlled by a thermostatic control, and controls engine temperature, so is completely irrelevant to the operation of the Climatronic. That said, I'd be most surprised if it was needed at all on a diesel in this weather.

It's in the handbook - compressor does not engage if outside temp is below 5 degrees C. Don't know about the fan though.

Octavia Mk1? The Climatronic cooling system does not operate if the outside temperature is lower than +5°C. In the case of the Superb, the Climatronic can only operate if the outside temperature is above +5°C.

Ooops! Beaten to it by wedge69.
