Ive finally decided to get rid of my little felly (well ive been driving my 306 for a month now) and im wondering if it would be worth selling it as a whole car or breaking it? no one seems to want it as a whole but has anyone else broken up one and sold it on and seen how much money they get for it?

I forgot to say that its an lxi in fairly good condition with very low mileage

You'll prob get more as a whole

What mileage and condition is it?

post piccies.

The clutch is slipping and there are now two holes in the parcel shelf

new fuel filter, air filter, wipers, spark plugs, battery and alternator in the past few months its got very little service history but it does have mot's somewhere to proove the mileage

Looks too good to scrap and break to be honest.

Wait until ebay do a free motors listing day unless someones browsing this

If the clutch is that bad could be worth calling around a few clutch specialists to see what the cheapest quote you can get is. You can then either use this to bargain with a buyer, or you might be able to sell for more with a good clutch. I have no idea how much a new clutch costs though.

I imagine selling it versus breaking it, you'd probably get the same amount either way but breaking would take more time and effort.

There are a few sites that let you advertise cars for sale free, be wary of buyers from Nigeria though, lol.

Looks gorgeous .. i'd do the clutch up and sell it as a whole unit (mind you im a dunce at cars :P) ... looks a lovely little car though.

Drooling here lmao

Have you tried local papers, Trade-It or do you have Evening Post ?

well i can see no problem with the clutch it does me fine, just someone who drove my car said i should get it replaced, it was on ebay and it got bid up to £300, it's currently in the online free ads and someone emailed me asking how much i wanted for it i said £500 he hasnt replied, someone rung me asking how much i said £500 they havnt called back, its got signs in the window and is put on a public bit of road every day

but no one wants to buy it, im not really inclined to spend any more money on it as im saving up to take a year out in oz next year and this is putting money towards the trip!

I havnt tried the local papers or anything like that as everyone round here is a bit thick and just laugh at the idea of owning a skoda

Bad time of the year to sell a car unfortunately. Depending on the clutch I think £500 is definitely a fair price to ask. The scratches on the wheel arch shouldn't be much of a problem to sort out.

Would be interested if I had the cash, but unfortunately insurance up for renewal, just after Christmas and not much money, and you're probably a bit away from Leeds anyway :(

just a bit....bridgend - in between swansea and cardiff, i think it might just have to stay off the road for a while untill people have got some money to buy a wonderful example of a car :)

Ebay is a good place but its def worth waiting for a free motors listing day.

Autotrader is good a small ad is about £15 I think. Just watch for spam email.

The clutch may be going but considering your wheel arches dont look rusty only scratched and the relatively low mileage.

A fully working one should fetech 700+

I paid £745 for mine and that had rusty arches plus I had to get the brakes done shortly after buying it. So you can imagine that the really good ones command a little more.

Plus notes - Looking at the pics its great, the holes in the parcel shelf can be fixed with putting speakers in or a new one from a scrappies by the new owner.

I had to cut my shelf for my speakers.

Plus they are cheap to run and maintain. £115 for tax on the 1.3 compared to £180 on the 1.6

As for clutches it cost £100 for my sister to replace the clutch on her Micra.

Is the clutch actually slipping though? (rev and stick in 5th it should stall if working ok) cause it may just require adjustment.

Unless it's rotting badly underneath then sell the car whole. Saves time and effort breaking for parts and keeps a good vehicle on the road.

yeh well i bought the car for £1000 less than a year ago, just have to wait and see now!

I bought mine in 2006.

Truck sideswiped it and the insurers were going to write it off for £1100....

If the bidding is good on Ebay I'd def say £700+

Full service history and stuff?

well i think its got full service history, a car with that little miles surely wouldnt have much would it? its got all the mot's to proove mileage

It's usually every year OR 12k miles, whichever comes first. So I would think around 8 stamps, one for each year starting a year after original purchase, would be expected in terms of "full". Although with the low miles I don't think most people would bat an eyelid if you had the book with only a couple of stamps in. Plus all the MOT's is a definite bonus.

My Dad knows someone who is looking for a car

That Felly looks great but they may not want to travel to Wales for one.

well if i can sort my insurance out to cover me for a day, i wouldnt mind meeting half way in a service station

My Dads friend wants to buy a car for his son. So it depends on how clued up and how fussy he is.

Given the choice between a Micra and a Felicia - the Felly would win!!!

I certainly wouldn't mind taking a trip to Wales though.

I'll get my Dad to have a word and give buzz words like cheap insurance and running costs. Unless the guys likely to rag it in which case I'll be sure to say Micra, MICRA!!

:D

I wouldn't assume that your clutch is on it way out on someone else's word.

Take it out for a spin and get it on a gradient in a high gear and floor it. If the revs increase and the car speed doesn't then it is slipping and yes it will need changed. Do this a few times to be sure

If the pedal feels particularly hard to press down then it is likely to be a thrust bearing within the clutch and again if this needs changing it is best to do the whole lot.

If none of these symptoms are apparent then it is fine as a dodgy clutch is easy to spot. I reckon you should be able to shift it easily enough and the key to this is to ensure you describe it right as it is surprising how little info people give. With ebay you can write loads and the more you can say the better as it looks like it has plenty going for it. Low mileage, decent colour, no rot. Make sure also that you mention replacement parts you have put on for the common faults if they have occured as this will reassure buyers that it has been looked after. Also if you have both keys get this in as it is surprising how many people don't have both!!

well the guy who told me the clutch is on its way out is a mechanic, but i will try those tests harry

sisko, if your dads friend is intersted in buying it then PM me and ill try sorting something out!

Might be best off selling it yourself.

Dont think my Dads friend is interested.

Good luck!
