New All-in-one printer - recommendations??

Featured Replies

My Canon multi-function printer is on it's last legs and I'm thinking about my next purchase. I'm not a hard core user of a printer, but myself and my partner do print a fair bit of documents for work and I do like to print the occasional photo. There a few criterea that it must fulfill. These are,

1) High quality prints

2) Scan/copy/print

3) Print on DVD/CD

4) Memory card slots (must have xd reader)

5) Digital display of media card contents would be nice

6) New cartridge not too dear & last a reasonable time

I have seen this printer Canon MP610 MFP 9600X2400 DPI 6.2CM TFT Screen : can-mp610 and think it's a good buy. Any other suggetsions??

NOT Lexmark, they are a total rip-off on ink.

Epson or Canon would be what I'd go for if it's being used reasonably frequently. I use a little HP one that seems quite economical. I've only just finished the original cartridges and I bought it a year ago (hardly ever use it)

I'd never buy another lexmark. The cartridge on my old one were as dear as a new printer.

My father in law has the Canon MP600 - excellent piece of kit and seperate ink cartridges which makes things a bit more economical (only relacing the one that's empty!)

Stick with a Canon if you were happy before. I had an old MP360 which we flogged to death on cheap ink saved a fortune over HP, Lexmark etc.

If you do a lot of documents for work you might want to do the same as us. We got a Samsung multifunction (Samsung SCX-4200) laser for documents as we might get a budget colour inkjet for pictures. To be honest I think it's cheaper just to get digital prints from the photographers or Jessops etc.

Having the laser has been a boon. Cheap to run (£50 for a 5000 page toner) and quick when it's warmed up.
