Dynamat in your Octy?

Featured Replies

im trying to keep the standard stereo system in my Octy, and was considering Dynamat in the doors to improve the sound from the speakers as its a bit weak, just wondering has anyone else done this with good results? bonus points for pics!

Whats Dynamat!? Tell me more. Anything to improve the sound quality of the std system esp CD's would be good.,

I have not done the doors but have a couple of packs of Dynamat Xtreme in the boot/rear wheel arch areas and under the rear bench.

If you do the doors then I would also buy an extra wedge pack and do the spare tyre well as this makes a lot of road noise and acts like a drum.

Any pics?

yeah, dynamat is sound deadening material, it sticks on. heard many a report in my day of the benefits of it!

Any pics?

What of the install in the boot?

Erm I could try and get a few but TBH, it's a pig to get the carpet out.

Yes but use the extreme version as it isn't bitumen based so won't crack and have heat problems on hot summer days.

I thought so, thats what I was after pics of to be honest.

Getting under the seats you can do without removing all the carpet, you just have to be careful and wear gloves as the carpet cuts you to pieces

Boot floor is easy as it's three pegs at the back of the boot then folt the carpet over the lowered seats.

Getting to the arches, ouch ouch ouch and more ouch.

I would suggest getting a few wedge packs of the extreme and covering the entire boot floor and the sides of the wheel well.

Get some laminate floor underlay stuff (felt like) and lay that over the dynamat. It's none adhesive. You could do the base of the wheel well too if you wanted.

Then add some under the rear bench and get a piece (as big as you can onto the wheel arches by pushing it under the carpets rather than taking them off. A few carefully cut pieces behind the bolsters on the rear seats helps too

I've just gone for partial dynamat extreme in the areas i have mentioned but might do the whole boot floor if i get some money. I'd also try and get some on to the front wheel arch areas if you can as most the road noise now comes from there.

Whats Dynamat !? .,

Sounds like a cafe full of vending machines.
