Has anyone else here suffered from this problem? When I am driving down even the slightest of bumpy roads my drivers seat (I think) has developed a anoying noise. I have tried to explain this to my local dealer but since I'm in Germany they just look at me as if I'm mad. (don't speak German).

I remember on the Mk1 that I used to get it when travelling to Donegal where theres loads of bumpy roads. I bascially lubed up the runners and any other moving parts I could access, rather than spraying direct and having it go everywhere I think I put it on with a small paint brush ;).

My rears seats creaked and the dealer did something and they are better - I think that was something to do with the catch that secures the seat backs.

The fronts have been ok though.

Hi, Just out of interest a VW Bora I owned a year or so back developed noisey rear seats that creaked as the car flexed over bumps and around bends. A peice of clear strong tape wound around the two D upright seat locks next to the rear door pillars sorted it a treat.

I had a Renault Megane that had exactly this problem. Eventually tracked it down to the routing of the cable for the seatbelt pre-tensioner. The cable was clipped to the plastic seat frame but in a way that when the seat cushion compressed and decompressed going over bumps, it rubbed against the cable causing the annoying creak.

I just removed the cable ties and shifted it out of the way of the seat cushion and hey presto! Creak gone!

Maybe the extra cables for all the electric seat adjustment in the L&K could be the reason it is only affecting this model. Also leather seats?

Funny that - I had to do the same mod to an Audi A2 I owned. Darn German cars.

I have not been able to tell where the noise is as it only appears while driving and going over bumps, It sounds more like one of the hinges or a main bracket though.

I got part of the seat mount changed a couple of months ago in my Octavia 2,0 tdi, as the seat was creeking.

Mine squeeks too.

Found out that it is the fixed part of the seatbelt rubbing against the leather sides of the seat.

Just turn up the stereo!!

I m having Laura ambiente (Octavia II is known as Laura in India) and even i get a strange noise from the lower part of the Front backseat ... I 'll try to get it rectified when the car goes in for the first service .

just realised i had the same problem on mine. fixed it by putting some of the autoglym leather care on tht part of the seat which stopped the seatbelt part fom squeeking.
