central lockings lost the plot

Featured Replies

ive had the car just over 2 weeks now and im loving it but i was very annoyed on my way home today when for no reason my central lockings decided to go a bit mental.

basically its as if im constantly trying to unlock the car but its doing it on its own and repeatedly, also when i pulled up and removed the key from the ignition the windows go down on their own  not ideal with the current weather or for security purposes :(

i cannot get the car to lock with the fob as it just unlocks itself and keeps on trying to unlock and then the windows go down on theor own so when i managed to get home ive disconnected the battery and locked the doors manually, is this a problem that can be easily fixed or is it a skoda dealer only?

i do have quite a bit of mechanical experince so im quite happy to have a look around, is their a fuse i can remove to deactivate the central locking? also is it possible that all this rain weve been having could be causing this fault and could any wiring for the central locking system have got wet?

please help thanks simon

just found a post about the door pillars and the wiring loom that runs through, it says water can get into the connectors etc

was this your problem and did it solve the issue?

Yep, did that and also filled the key holes with WD40, not had the problem since.

thanks for that, im off down to my work in a bit to sort the problem out. ive removed fuse 49 so atleast i can drive the car and leave the battery connected without the front windows coming down

ill report if its cured later on

went into work today removed both rear doorcards to be greeted with leaking gaskets on the back plates, dried it all out with the airline and silconed it on both sides which has sorted my leak problem i didnt know i had and then i checked, cleaned and put some wd40 on 3 multiplug connecters in the door b pillars.

i drove the car home and it was fine, parked it up and locked the car with the fob no problems, 30 mins later i looked outside and the windows where down with the central locking repeatedly trying to unlock many times per second.

im currently driving the car with fuse 49 removed which has disabled the central locking and with the fuse removed the electric windows and mirrors behave backwards left works right and vice versa i know it does this because the fuse is removed.

ive still got this problem with the central locking though so can someone please help me im getting rather upset about it all and ive even cancelled getting the remap done next weekend :(

I have the same problem with keys in the door windows go down. Drivers side door keeps locking and unlocking itself while driving. The passenger door if left open opens and closes all other doors repeatedly, you have to be quick and open the driver door before the passenger opens their door or else you will be locked out. recently when you open the door with the key you have 5 seconds to open your door or else the central locking closes all doors.

ive managed to fix the fault today, had VAG-COM plugged in and it showed a central locking fault but not a fault with the convenience unit, the fault code was cleared and then i checked all four doors and it turned out to be one of the wires in the front passenger loom that goes into the pillar.

somehow water has got in through the gromit and the top black plug with 4 wires going into it that controls the central locking had oxidized on one of the pins.

a quick blow with the airline, worked the plug in and out a few times, some wd40 and put fuse 49 back in for the central locking and touch wood upto now the car seems to be fine, ive driven the car home without the doors unlocking and the windows coming down

thanks for all that helped

I had a simular problem  on my octavia 2003 1.9 tdi windows going down on their own and the central locking clicking all the time.

I had it at a auto electrician and he looked at it for a half a day and told me he needed it for an other full day =:weeping:

After reading the the solutions that others found I looked for myself and foung wet and dirty connection on the drivers door at the plug for the windor motor

Hopes this helps others it saved me from a big bill.
