Re-mapped ECU in the post today

Featured Replies

Nice little parcel arrived this am from Rich Washbrook in the UK. Lunchtime saw me yanking out the old one and fitting it. Just drove in to work this pm and I had a huge silly grin on my face the whole trip!

Although the boost has been upped by only a bit from 1.8 to 1.9 BAR, what Rich has done (some more "tricks" in his words) has been absolutely amazing.

The car has a really noticeable increase in torque from way way down all the way to redline.

The only reason I now know that there was some slight turbo lag on the old map is that there is none I can sense now. I can hear the turbo spool up almost the instant I floor it with instant gratification from the loud pedal.

It has power by the bucketloads and it comes in as smooth as a tomcat peeing on velvet.....

It really has become an absolute animal and I have to get used to it....:D

Rich me old mate - you're a genius!!

a very happy Bas

Nice one bas

Would be really interesting to see what the car makes on the rollers......... How far was the nearest one again :D

I found that there is an inertia-type one here - will book it in as soon as I get the time - need to see some numbers...

Numbers are nice, But It would be more interesting to see the curves. From way you say it drives i bet they are really smooth flat curves.

Rich is well-known for mapping flat curves - ask Xav for example.

Deffo be an interesting one to post up...

Rich is a really nice guy - sure he'd be glad to - just before he did my ECU- he remapped an Audi R8, with figures beating the top tuners in Germany, though he admits his first love is derv....

Keep up the hard work bas/Rich

Rich is a good mate - he advises me when I have car issues (along with some other mates on here)- last one being an injector from kermatdi that failed for no good reason - but he's the one who's doing all the hard work here - all I did was fit the ECU, lol.

another satisfied customer of his.....

If you do a search on google with his name, you'll find that he has a sorta underground cult status as a tuner, and now that he's independant that should change.....

I can too vouch for Richard as a really nice guy. I'm sure there are a fair few people who have one of his maps and have no idea.

Bas I am surprised you've not got your own cable sorted so that you can have it mapped via email and possibly assist other owners in your neck of the woods.

Interesting idea mate - but since I have 2 ECU's it's best to leave it to the pro's...

A faulty flash would cause some serious probs..

Just need to up the idle to 1k again - the uprated dogbone is making its existence known again although not badly....

I'm running my stage 2 at 1.9 bar also, gives my car a genuine 221bhp on standard injectors with no noticable smoke. What uprated injectors are you using? What's the smoke like?

I started using the kermatdi ones - one failed and was scrap within 500 miles. Fitted carefully by me according to skoda spec by the book. Kerma didnt want to know me.

Found apdiesels.com in the UK - need to talk to Vaughan the boss there - no-one else has a clue - they sold a mate on here a full set of injectors rated at 96 mg/cyl for 760 odd quid all in(no pound sign on this keyboard!!).

To save my marriage, I got only one rated at 92mg/cyl to match the kerma ones.

Again - fitted myself - been running about 2K kms np....

I have smoke at WOT and above about 4K rpm, otherwise very little smoke indeed.

I did ask Rich to tune it deliberately to smoke at that point, as I use it to show that I do still have an antisocial side to my driving, lol.

Hope this is the info that you want mate...

Cheers

Bas
