For a cambelt change should I replace the hydraulic damper as well. opinions please??

Featured Replies

Hi all,

When doing the cambelt/waterpump change should I replace the hydraulic damper at the same time?? Is this the normal proceedure?

If yes, where do I get one from??

Thanks again!!!

Yes. They're a common cause of failure, the seal dies which allows the oil to leak out, resulting in a loss of tension which lets the belt skip.... not good at all. It's a false economy not to IMHO.

Cheers VRSphil,

Will anyone confirm for me that

part no: 13134 is the correct part from GSF.

I'm only asking as it doesn't state that it will fit the engine code AUQ (vRS).

I spoke to a guy int GSF's office in Dublin earlier today about this exact part. Part No. 13134 is the part you are looking for - although it doesn't say it on the web, I was told that there are about 15 different engine codes it is used on, incl AUQ.
