Remapping any warrenty......

Featured Replies

Thanks to a prievious thread i am now interested in the fiat 500 with the 1.3 multijet derv engine. I think i could save about £1000 a year if i bought one:thumbup:

Someone said if you can remap them to get 105BHP out of the 1.3 multijet, and id be happy as larry with that!

What do you think the chances of getting the dealer to keep my warrenty with the remap? Would i have to get the remap done through them? Do they even do that??

Would it be like the fabia in that id have to uprate the clutch?

Any thoughts on this would be great:thumbup:

Cheers guys and galls

What's the cost to change? If you like it, buy it but will it really save you money?

Besides, you'll start spending a lot on hair gel and fake tan if you buy one of these.

well my dealer knows mine is remapped, and I still have a full warrenty (to quote the mechanic, last time he drove it, bearing in mind he drives an evo!) "bloody hell, goes like **** of a shovel, have you had it remapped again ?! lol.... but mine is an understanding, and friendly dealer....

and there is a company spokesperson quoting for the arbarth fiats, saying "all aftermarket modifications will NOT affect the warrenty" i asked them about this, and they seemed to think its true..... where I read it was in autoexpress, and one of the tabloids, but of course that may not be true, i think its to do with the arbarth tuning kits going on AFTER the car has arrived here from 'country of manufacture' ...

but what i suggest, is that you speak to your local fiat dealer, ask to see the service mangager, and see what he/she says.....

oh, and please report back and let us know... if the policy is true, they will be attracting a whole lot more petrolheadsto the marque.

edit: just re-read your thread, more info....

1) i don't think any dealer currently offer remaps, but I'm sure the arbarth dealers (of which mine will be one!) will arrange aftermarket tuning for you, using arbarth parts! remaps included.

2) with the 1.3 m/jet, its not the clutch thats weak, but the gearbox, the five speeder, has a "torque limit" that it can cope with, I'm sure angel tuning know exactly what that limit is... in my car , the punto, its the clutch thats the weak spot, mine is the 6 speed gearbox, which is a tough as old nails, but my clutch can only run the 170bhp remap, not the 190bhp remap (which is available, but needs an uprated clutch!)

hope this helps :)

I may have to shave my head in that case! Also i got access to free sunbeds:P

I would save

£90 p/a on tax

£400-£500 a year on fuel

And £50 p/m on monthley payments (only going on the online payment plans, im sure it will be a different story when i get infront of a sales person!)

+ benifits of having a brand new car.

=Possible £1000+ a year saving:)

Test drive booked for tomorrow! :D

When my wife had her Punto's, our Fiat dealer (Caledonia Warrington) never blinked an eye when I put a full magnex system and had it mapped to smooth things out (I used to drive it more than her, Mk2 punto HGT's are immense fun)

The HGT only had one warranty job which was a variator for the VVT, they knew it was mapped but changed the variator without question.

I do have to add though that like Skoda dealers, not all Fiat dealers are the same, Caledonia Warrington were great, TJ Vickers in Telford are also pretty darn good and I have just got my mum out of a Felicia and into a Panda multijet from them and my Dad is a driving instructor and now runs a Grande Punto from them. If you find a "bad" Fiat dealer they are really really bad.
