Strange Noise

Featured Replies

yeah i've changed 3 hoses, 2 valves and a sensor so far! (engine breather hose, vacuum hose under inlet manifold, pressure hose down back of engine, DV, N249 and air temperature sender)

next up will be the intercooler to throttle body hose, as mine is looking a bit tired and tatty, and seems to rub away if i rub it!

just a shame that the APR one that Awesome do is so expensive (£95+vat)! hint hint sarah!

Do Samco or Forge do one for less money, as it's seems a silly price for just a bit of silicone hose with 2 bends in it?

...back on topic...

going for a drive with some mates tonight, so will scan for codes after that.

How has the N249 sorted your problem? Mine now splutters/hesitates like mad between 2 and 3000 RPM.

Got to the point now that i'm concidering part-ex'ing it on another car....only had it 6 months and it's had this problem since day 1.

Have now spent almost £1000 trying to fix it. New coil packs, plugs, N75, DV, pressure hose and map. Still no difference.

It looks like I've got this exact problem. It's not terribly, but it noticeably hesitates now and again and if I floor it in say 3rd, it randomly hesitates for a second or so and you can hear the dump valve twittering a bit. With the window down, you can also hear quite a lot in the way of whistling under load. Definitely turbo noise, but should it be easily audible? I've got a warranty so will take it in, but would be good if I knew what it was first otherwise they'll blatantly never find it!

If you can hear the DV opening then it sounds like the n249 opening the dv wrongly when on full boost.

Yup, definitely can hear the DV opening. It's like I've lifted off, only I most definitely haven't. Will give them a ring about it. Will the ECU throw any codes up about it?
