Spent 6 Hours on the vRS Today...

Featured Replies

Knowing that we were going to get some dry weather today it seemed the perfect opportunity to do the following:-

  • remove side strips :)
  • wash, paint cleanse, paint seal and then full wax of the car :)
  • remove tatty old badge from rear and put on shiny new badge in new position :)
  • change huge remote control car style aerial to dinky s2000 stubby :)
  • Get rid of orange indicator bulbs and replace with new silver indicators :)
  • Replace main beam bulbs with Osram Nightbreakers :)
  • Replace sidelight bulbs with LED 501 bulbs :)

Full write up is on the blog at Project Greedy - ?koda Fabia vRS but god now do mine and the hubby's arms ache from some serious wax on wax off action!

Thoroughly impressed with the overall finish of the paintwork after the deep cleanse. It will need another doing before Ultimate Dubs but at least it wont be so hard now. :P

We managed to lose one bloody side light bulb somewhere in the abyss of the engine bay courtesy of a massive gust of wind but replacement bulb will arrive tomorrow.

I hope you like the new position for the rear badge - i think after removing the silver "FABIA" wording it just needed a push up the back as it seemed to sit wrong where it was.

Hopefully next weekend will mean I can get the new TSW wheels out the garage and wax them ready to be put on the car when the coilovers are fitted in two weeks time.

Comments welcome and always gratefully received

Charlie & Chris

Tidy :D

Nice - Who you going to ultimate dubs with? :)

Looks nice!

Shiney shiney.

I was looking at silver indicator bulbs yesterday. How much did you pay for 2?

I bought led sidelights, what a difference they make looks wise.

Not saying this will be the case with yours but i, and others, have found that the cheaper silver indicator bulbs can be pretty dim in daylight..... We had a set of £5 silver bulbs in the CTR and only noticed after a couple of months that when it was sunny you couldn't actually see the front indicators flashing!!!!!:eek::eek:

We then bought some Philips SilverVisions and they are great..... Even brighter than the OEM bulbs were.

Cheers

Dave.

Good work

Your choice of products looks to have worked well with the yellow

When is Ultimate Dubs anyway?

Weird how that happens isnt it - always used these on the VAG cars we've owned with no problems - maybe your Type-R was being too posh

Wardy - Ultimate Dubs is in March think its sunday 9th at Telford ICC. Good day out. As for the products I have known Alex at Serious Performance since starting my own car club 2 years ago and he has always offered good advice without the need to push products that are at the top end of the price spectrum. Pretty much everything used was his own range that he spent several years developing and I must admit I was surprised how easy the products were to put on/off the vehicle.

Thanks for all your comments guys.

Skodastream - Cars coming along nicely mate, thats another things bulbs to change over, going to speak to MikeSM56 on the forum about popping up to his mates this weekend to get this done.

Davy

It wasn't to bad changing the bulbs the drivers side was slightly tighter than the off side although i did manage to drop one of the bulbs down into the engine bay
