Na its all covered in on mine, if you look at my picture there is a bit of the same material as the arch liner covers all that area in.

Looks like iam wrong then. What does everyone think to the slit and hair dryer mod i described earlier?

That's what I tried doing on mine, looked crap so I just cut larger slits of material out.

The hair dryer trick looked cr*p on all the examples I have seen in a number of VAG forums. Too fiddly for my liking.

I agree, and for £17 its a lot easier to fit the TT vent.

Ordered a Forge TIP and have been told I need to do a throttle body allignement after fitting so the question I have is do I need VAG.COM to do this or is there any other way of realligning the throttle body?

I didn't bother :)

I didn't bother :)

Me neither

Thats handy thanks guys I won't bother worrying about it then :). So what kind of difference does this make to the standard car? I want to get all the little bits done before I go to Jabba or P-Torque (Havent decided which mapper I'm going to yet) so the map is done with the new bits in place

I never noticed any difference tbh.

I think it's a bit smoother and feels a little bit faster....

Could all be in my head though!

:D

Little more noise from the DV with the TIP . I agree with Ethos a little smoother running. My Turbo spin up does feel slightly better, but could be in my head too. I look at it that all these little mods make up to the better overall running of my car. certainly seemed that way when I took it to the JKM RR day.......... My BHP and Torque graph was spot on.

Looking good and a healthy 219bhp!

Cracking torque bowders. Who did the remap?

I will try and dig out. I took a flyer with the remap by sending my ECU off to a company to get a map loaded. At 200 quid I was well chuffed.

Hi,

Does the wheel arch mod that you all have done really help with the cooling of the standard intercooler substantially?

I'm running at 239bhp & was going to fit a FMIC before the warmer weather, but the money I had put aside for it will possiblly have to be spent on other maintenance issues that have cropped up on the car.

I cannot answer that as I have just done mod and do not know what its like in warmer weather. All I can say is that getting an airflow though the intercooler must make some difference,as you know as standard it can't get much flow as it vents into the wing.

Oggy , what have you had done to get 239 BHP? That not a bad BHP figure at all. If you are on standard turbo that must be about the best I have seen on a standard 1.8 block. I was thinking of getting a FMIC but then cost, possibly getting a K04 to make it worthwhile put me off. You start getting into a whole new ball game. I also considered traction on the car to be a issue pushing any more significant bhp. I am also considering gettng the Milotec front bumper side vents to also help keep intercooler in better shape.

Have you got the name of that mapping company yet Bowders?

Cheers

All I have done is Carbonio CAI, Forge TIP, forge DV, Miltek sports cat, Blueflame exhaust & JBS custom code phase1 remap with standard turbo.

This produced on JBS rollers 223.3ft/lb torque & 238.3bhp @ 6607rpm at the flywheel.

I think I have come to end of limits of the standard turbo, might be able to squeeze some more horses out with a custom remap when I get a FMIC, but To me at the moment it feels just right amount power & I'm happy.

Well took the wheel off and have done this. Just did the drilling method and it looks quite discreet.

Don't know if it will make any difference though.

Cheers
